The Department of Works and Infrastructure of the La Laguna City Council has announced that the new free public parking behind the Municipal Market facilities in Plaza del Cristo will be ready for use in the first quarter of this year.
Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, the Mayor of La Laguna, emphasized the council’s commitment to creating up to 7,000 parking spaces across the municipality, addressing a key demand of the local population. He also revealed plans to commence work on new parking lots in the Taco area in the near future.
Ángel Chinea, the councilor for Works and Infrastructure, stated that the ongoing work includes milling and removing materials from the existing pavement, followed by the delineation of parking spaces and the final pavement conditioning.
Chinea highlighted that the newly prepared space spans 2,000 square meters and can accommodate about one hundred vehicles. The proximity of these parking lots to the Municipal Market, Constitution Park, and the main streets of the city center will offer significant benefits to the users.
Furthermore, Chinea mentioned that the location, situated at the junction of Las Peras road and the beginning of Tabares de Cala street, has undergone additional maintenance work to clear overgrown areas and remove abandoned waste and large items accumulated over the years.
