Tenerife Showcases Wine Tunnel and Finest Produce at Madrid Fusión

An impressive 75 square meter wine tunnel is the centerpiece of Tenerife‘s presence at the renowned gastronomy event, Madrid Fusion. The Tenerife Council is all set to feature a stand covering a total of 300 square meters, hosting more than fifty activities across its three diverse areas, including workshops, tastings, breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and presentations.

Additionally, Tenerife will be part of the Saborea España area, uniting the country’s top culinary destinations and offering an extensive program of product tastings and samplings. Moreover, the island’s proposal will prominently feature the municipalities of Santiago del Río, Teide, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Candelaria, San Miguel de Abona, and Puerto de la Cruz, showcasing gastronomic value chain companies, hotels, and the Tenerife Bartenders Association.

The Tenerife delegation at Madrid Fusión, led by Vice President and Minister of Tourism Lope Afonso, will include around a hundred professionals, such as producers, chefs, pastry chefs, sommeliers, restaurateurs, winemakers, and technicians from the six wine designations of origin in Tenerife. This diverse ensemble will also encompass students and teachers from various gastronomy and hospitality disciplines, specifically from the IES San Marcos and the CIPF Virgen de Candelaria.

The Tenerife wine tunnel, the highlight of this edition, will feature totems and screens, housing a grand masterful tasting of Tenerife Wines to commence the Wine Edition programming. It will also include a presentation by chef Diego Schattenhofer and a unique edible perfumes showcase at the main Auditorium stage, promising an unprecedented, groundbreaking, and global content.

In addition, chef Alberto Margallo will present exclusive haute cuisine concepts using Anaga’s three stellar products: limpets, prickly pears, and yams in the multipurpose space. The IV edition of the Competition of Mojos and Dishes harmonized with Tenerife Wines will also be a major attraction, featuring renowned national chefs, some of whom possess Michelin stars.

Following the national success of the past three editions, Tenerife will feature the IV National Contest of Dishes with Mojos from Tenerife harmonized with wines from the Island. Around twenty contestants from across the country have signed up for this contest and six finalists have been selected. The contest, offering two prizes, will distinguish the Best Mojo and the Best Dish with Mojo harmonized with Tenerife Wines.

Lope Afonso emphasizes the significance of Tenerife’s presence at Madrid Fusión 2024, highlighting the unwavering commitment to sustainability, local products, circular economy, and kilometer zero produce as essential tools of commitment, quality, and promotion. Furthermore, she emphasizes that “Tenerife evokes emotions, appetite, interest, and recognition, and has garnered academic and commercial recognition, securing a prominent position in leading guides and fairs in the sector, thus elevating Tenerife to a point of excellence, with an ever-increasingly rich offering.”

Valentín González, responsible for the primary sector at the Insuar Corporation, assures that “the best local products from Tenerife will be showcased at Madrid Fusión.” The six regulatory councils of Tenerife wines, olive oil, honeys, cheeses, and tropical fruits will be represented, with strong collaboration from the city councils of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Candelaria, Santiago del Teide, San Miguel de Abona, and Puerto de la Cruz, who will play a prominent role at the fair.

Dimple Melwani, CEO of Tourism, adds, “We are bringing many new features to Madrid Fusión this year, with around a hundred professionals representing a significant presence of the hotels from here.”
