The official program for Carnival 2024, scheduled from February 22 to February 25, was unveiled by the Candelaria City Council. This much-anticipated annual event guarantees enjoyment and amusement for individuals of all ages. Embracing the theme of “Las Vegas” this year, the Carnival is set to bring the characteristic glamour and revelry of this iconic American city to life.
“The organizing committee has put in tremendous efforts to ensure that the Carnival is a memorable experience for both residents and visitors. The Candelaria Carnival is a deeply rooted tradition that brings our community together. This year, we have curated a diverse program that mirrors the vitality and jubilation of our municipality,” stated Mayor Mari Brito.

In line with this, Manuel González, Festival Councilor, highlighted that the array of scheduled activities caters to a wide range of preferences. “The Carnival kicks off on Thursday, February 22, with the Plaza de la Patrona de Canarias adorned for the official commencement of the Carnival at 8:00 p.m. The evening will feature performances by the Tropicana Children’s Comparsa, the Batucada Almagec, the Antón Guanche Senior Group, the Tropicana Comparsa, En Paralelo Danza, the Odali Ballet, the Bahía Bahitiare Comparsa, and other acts,” he announced.

The highlight of the festivities is on Saturday, the 24th, with the Coso parade, commencing from Puntalarga to the Plaza de la Patrona de Canarias. The coso dance will take place in the Plaza de los Pescadores, featuring the participation of groups from the Tenerife Carnival. In the evening, the square will pulsate with the 19th Regional Meeting of Murgas, showcasing the winners in the interpretation section of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria competitions. The Coso dance will continue until 4:00 a.m. with performances by the Revelación, Nueva Línea and Corinto orchestras.
