SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, January 25. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Plans are underway for the Cabildo of Tenerife to invest over half a million euros in various enhancement works at the Insular Athletics Center (CIAT), which is under the management of the public entity Ideco.
This was disclosed by the insular Sports Councilor, Yolanda Moliné, to representatives of the five clubs that regularly utilize the Cabildo facility during a meeting which was also attended by the CEO of Ideco, Manolo Gómez.
Yolanda Moliné emphasized that CIAT is a cutting-edge sports facility which will undergo necessary actions to provide athletes with improved training conditions.
The island councilor specifically mentioned the refurbishment of the track pavement (tartan) and the artificial turf, with a projected budget of 327,000 euros; the replacement of the throwing cage, for which 20,000 euros will be allotted, or the procurement of new machinery and equipment for the gym for a value of 103,000 euros.
“We also have other projects in progress, such as enhancing the energy efficiency of the facility, which we hope to address this year,” she noted in a statement.
The clubs presently utilizing CIAT for training and in attendance at the meeting include Club Tenerife, Milla Chicharrera, Club Santa Cruz, Olimpus 21, and Club Trotamundos.
Aside from being used by registered and unregistered athletes, the center also hosts an introduction to athletics program for minors and adults, focusing on developing the fundamental physical abilities required for the sport.
