Morocco rescues 108 migrants, 28 of them minors, who were heading to the Canary Islands

The authorities of Morocco They announced this Sunday the rescue of 108 migrants, including 28 minors, who were heading towards Canary Islands on a boatamid an increase in this type of operations in recent weeks.

The General Staff of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces has explained thatThe boat was intercepted on Saturday off the coast of the city of Dakhlalocated in occupied Western Sahara, shortly after they left Mauritania.

More than 87,000 migrants in 2023

In 2023, Moroccan authorities intercepted about 87,000 migrants in an irregular situation who had the objective of reaching Spain in various operations carried out in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, as well as in other parts of the African country.
