The La Laguna City Council wants to undertake improvements in the road layout of the Taco industrial zone, for which it will carry out a minor modification of the PGO, with the specific objective of resolving the connection between Las Industrias and Los Pescadores streets in both directions. circulation through a road of adequate dimensions for industrial use, which improves mobility, safety and traffic conditions in the area, according to sources from the Urban Planning Management.
And, as they explained, the current operation of vehicle mobility in the area is deficient, since if you access Los Pescadores Street from the La Cuesta-Taco highway (TF-194), you must necessarily join the the TF-5, direction Santa Cruz and, through exit A4, return to the area. This produces a so-called churning traffic that increases the input intensity of the current link and generates delays at peak times.
Furthermore, since the construction of the tram along its axis, the La Cuesta-Taco highway has only one lane in each direction, which is insufficient at certain times of the day, since all the traffic on Las Industrias Street has to travel along this road to access it. to the TF-5.
For all these reasons, the action that the City Council wants to carry out comes from the need for an internal connecting road that allows circulation within the industrial land and significantly reduces the length of trips, explained by the Urban Planning Management.
Thus, they indicate, the execution of a connection between Las Industrias and Los Pescadores streets will result in a reduction in the flow that enters the TF-5 and also that which is incorporated into the Taco junction, increasing safety and security conditions. level of service on the branch, favoring proximity and sustainable mobility. And it will also reduce the load on the La Cuesta-Taco highway.
For all this, the City Council has requested the Department of Territorial Policy of the Government of the Canary Islands to begin the simplified strategic environmental assessment for said minor modification of the PGO, attaching a draft of the plan and strategic environmental document, as published by the department itself last Friday. in an advertisement in the BOP.
The City Council is considering two alternatives for the new road, and after the environmental evaluation, one will be chosen.
