Hidramar Gran Canaria receives Tenerife Libby’s in the derby of pending accounts

Talk about Hydramar Gran Canaria and Tenerife Libby’s are the two greatest exponents of national women’s volleyball during the last five years and the demonstration of the current superiority of the Canary Islands in the national concert. The CID hosts this Saturday (4:00 p.m.) the derby of pending accounts between the Olimpico, who defeated the Laguneras in the Spanish Super Cup held at the Santiago Martín Pavilion and a Haris, who in the last match coached by Marcos Dreyer managed to defeat them 3-1 against all odds on the fourth day of the Iberdrola League.

Both teams arrive at tomorrow’s event as second and fourth classified respectively.. The Gran Canarian team has just defeated Ocisa Haro Rioja Vóley at home and with solvency (1-3); while the Laguneras recovered on the last day of their defeat against the leader, Avarca de Menorca, with a victory against a direct rival at the top of the table, DSV CV Sant Cugat (3-1).

Both teams are aware that in a Canarian derby any result is possible, regardless of the state of form in which the teams are and the venue in which a new battle will take place.

At the end of December, Tenerife presented its new centre-back, the North American Lana Radakovic, who arrived on the neighboring island to replace the departure of Shealyn McNamara.

In Miguel Rivera’s team, among the top 10 by ranking, the former Olympic player, Ariadna Priante, stands out in the setter position, the opposite Dayana Segovia, Lisbet Arredondo in the reception and finally Margalida Piza in the libero position.

Fran Carballo: “Haris has nothing to lose and will come with a brutal desire to beat us”

The Hidramar Gran Canaria coach sees the third derby against Haris of the season as “quite complicated”. “They have been reinforced with the signing of a central defender (Lana Radakovic), the last two games we have already noticed some improvement, they have nothing to lose here and they are going to go out and beat us no matter what because after winning the final of They are going to have a brutal desire to beat us in the Super Cup,” analyzes Carballo.

The match that the Gran Canaria strategist has in mind is “closer in all sets and will be decided in the final points.”

Regarding the state of form of her players, she acknowledges that she sees them all “working hard and mentally very well, then we will see if we can be more consistent in the game than we have been in the matches.”

Saray Manzano: “Every game with Haris is a world”

The captain of Hidramar Gran Canaria faces the new derby against Haris “with the same desire, knowing that they are a possible rival in the semifinal of the Queen’s Cup“We cannot allow ourselves to have any downturn against any rival and we have to face it as a final, because we are playing for three points that we need to add to stay among the first two positions in the table,” acknowledges Manzano.

At the start of the new year, the Gran Canarian considers that “the team is working very well, with great intensity, even in many training sessions there is more intensity than in the games themselves and I think we are clear candidates for all the titles that are at stake “.

Saray recognizes that Haris has changed with the arrival of Miguel Rivera, “he comes from men’s volleyball and is still adapting to women’s volleyball, it is totally different, in addition each coach has his own work method, he is not too similar to Juan Diego, although in the end this is volleyball and its strong point had always been the centers and the truth is that Wagner and Jordan held the line before.”

The Gran Canarian prefers not to give any favorites, because in her opinion “every game against them is a world and we have to approach it as if it were the final of the Super Cup or the semi-final of the Queen’s Cup, because it doesn’t matter how each team arrives. “Every game is a final and you have to play it at 100%.”
