This Thursday, the Cabildo of Tenerife and the Government of the Canary Islands staged the signing of the agreement for the fifth addendum to the collaboration agreement signed between both administrations for the provision of services to people in a situation of dependency.
The president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, and the Minister of Social Welfare of the autonomous community, Candelaria Delgado, proceeded to sign this document in an act that took place at the IASS (Institute of Social and Socio-Health Care) offices and which It was attended by the Social Action Councilor of the Cabildo and president of the IASS, Águeda Fumero, and the vice president of the Cabildo, Lope Afonso.
This agreement represents a significant increase in the contributions of both administrations to the dependency agreement, which implies covering an increase in the price per place and day, which will allow more than 124 million euros to be allocated to dependency care during 2024, and a similar amount for 2023, retroactively – from January of last year -.
During the event, the president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, highlighted the work of the teams that has given rise to this agreement, which will ensure the provision of services to the most vulnerable people.
Dávila assured that through this agreement the Cabildo becomes a “tool at the service of people”, joining the strategy of the Government of the Canary Islands to streamline the procedures that dependent people must carry out to access the different services.
Likewise, he had some words of recognition “to the caregivers, who are normally women.”
The Minister of Social Welfare, Candelaria Delgado, assured that they are “congratulated” because through the signing of the agreement the amount of the cost in certain types of places has been increased, in order to adjust it to the real cost of the services.
For her part, the Minister of Social Action and president of the IASS, Águeda Fumero, endorsed “the Council’s commitment to the social field” and assured that “it is a long-awaited milestone by third sector entities.”
THE COST OF PLACES RISE BY 10%
From now on, he noted, “we take on the challenge of working on the new agreement in which Tenerife, necessarily, has to grow in the number of places.”
“This agreement will have a very positive impact on the 76 service-providing entities in Tenerife, with which we currently collaborate, including city councils, commercial entities and non-profit entities,” he said.
The agreed increases seek to stabilize and improve the provision of services for older people and people with disabilities that make up the resource network on the island of Tenerife, which currently involves the financing of 7,599 places.
The modifications introduced in ‘addendum V’, in relation to the price per place and day, generally imply an increase of 10% in the price of places located in day care centers and residences for the elderly. and people with disabilities, as well as an increase ranging between 15% and 30% in certain specific resources, such as those for people with autism spectrum disorder who are in day care, functional homes and those for people with disabilities.
