Foreign Action throw one guide to facilitate the Customs formalities to companies that sell their products outside the Island. Entrepreneurial firms in the foreign market will also have 200,000 euros of grant direct from the area of Council, chaired by Lope Afonso, for its internationalization. The plan, designed together with the Chamber of Commerce, It plans, among other actions, to carry out ten trade missions, incorporate new technological tools and promote tenders with the United Nations. This was explained yesterday by the vice president and Minister of Tourism who was accompanied by the island director, Pedro Gonzalez and the president of the Foreign Trade Commission of the Chamber, Arturo Escuder.
Pedro Gonzalez was in charge of making known the guide How to send your products from Canary Islands, whose objective is to explain to companies on the Island the mechanisms at their disposal to send samples or products abroad. This 12-page document covers everything from the steps to register with customs to the types of controls and taxes that they have to face in the rest of the European Union (EU). The mechanisms for sending samples or the procedures for attending an international fair are also explained. The guide also analyzes the advantages that Canarian entrepreneurs have available to send products, such as the simplified system if they export them at a price less than 150 euros to the rest of the Union or the benefit of making shipments to the Iberian Peninsula.
Through the Post Office
The procedures are also collected through the public company Correos, since it is usually a common means of transport for many companies and especially for those who begin their export process. This guide has been prepared through the Program Tenerife More Global that finances 100% of the Cabildo. It is also published in English as another tool in promoting the Island as an attractive destination for foreign investment. This document complements the Guide for Export and Import from the Canary Islands, which explains the different controls that merchandise must pass whether it enters or leaves the Archipelago abroad. Cabildo and Chamber of Commerce join forces to support Island companies in their internationalization. For this they will have that amount of 200,000 euros of European Feder funds available through the Internationalization programs of the Spanish Chamber managed by the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Chamber. The subsidy promotes the ten commercial missions scheduled in 2024 and access to the Xpande Digital program, whose objective is to help sell more online.
Strategic ally
Lope Afonso assures that “the Chamber of Commerce is a strategic ally of Tenerife and its business fabric, which it helps to grow.” He adds that “this strategic vocation is developed in internationalization.” He understands the leader of the PP in the island corporation that “we must go out better” and “more effectively” abroad. Considers that companies should contribute to providing business opportunities. Afonso believes that “we also generate economic exchanges that favor the balance of our trade balance, we mitigate dependence on foreign supplies or supplies and we strengthen the employment growing”. Sentence: “We are going to reinforce our actions in this matter in the coming years.” Pedro González values: “We want to be a useful tool for companies and freelancers who want to outsource services or products.” He recalls that they can do so with programs such as Tenerife más Global and Tenerife Licita, which “deserve a boost” because “on this Island there is a lot of talent to export.”
Trade missions
Arturo Escuder highlights the programming of the ten trade missions, “twice as many as last year.” This includes the tourism fairs in Germany and London, which together with Fitur are the three main events in the sector. Tenerife and its companies will also attend, as a novelty, the nautical sector fair in the city of Hamburg and the cosmetics fair in Porto. Escuder highlights in conclusion that “this multitude of actions are aimed at making the Island more international and open to the rest of the world.” The destinations chosen this year for fairs abroad are the two main tourism fairs (ITB in Berlin and World Travel Market in London), the animation fair in Annecy, the Expocosmética in Porto and the meeting for United Nations bidding companies. Regarding trade missions, it is planned to go to Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Ivory Coast and Mexico. However, other destinations such as Senegal, Cape Verde, Ghana, Uruguay, Peru, South Africa or Namibia have also been reserved in case changes occur. Interested companies will have a travel bag that includes travel and accommodation, as well as the cost of entry to the fair, the cost of a work agenda and a translator. After carrying out the action, they may request reimbursement of 85% of the expenses within the limits set by the script designed in the program.
Top level programs
The Xpande Digital program helps you sell more online. This year the amount of aid that each beneficiary company will receive is increased from 4,000 to 5,000 euros. In addition, the consultancy is maintained free of charge. Participants receive an ITV report where all the errors that a website presents are analyzed. This information is complemented with an analysis of digital marketing potential for the indicated international destination. For its part, Tenerife more Global remains the gateway during the first steps in internationalization. On the one hand, it detects companies on the Island with the capacity to sell their products or services abroad. On the other hand, an export laboratory (Export Lab) is created to learn the application of the latest technologies. Finally, bringing international tenders closer to island companies is the priority objective this year of the Tenerife Licita team, which helps companies win competitions from foreign organizations. More than 4,000 from all over Spain sign up as possible UN suppliers and 34 are from Tenerife. The membership of the Chamber of Commerce in the European Business Network (Enterprise Europe Network) allows Tenerife companies to find suppliers, distributors or clients in the nearly 50 European and non-European countries that are part of the association. This year, knowledge of new markets will be promoted through direct connections with intermediate organizations in the destination countries.
