Flamenco Festival Romí-City from La Laguna

Dancer Antonio Canales surrounds himself with stars to turn the Teatro Leal into an authentic flamenco tablao. With the help of the Romí-Ciudad de La Laguna International Flamenco Festival, and under the motto “My Soul is Flamenca”, he has managed to bring together a great cast of flamenco stars.

Presentation Joroperos

The Joroperos troupe will present their fantasy for the carnival this Saturday in the Main Hall of the Leal Theater. The group was awarded the Gold medal of the City of La Laguna last 2021 for its career in this festival and for the achievements obtained in its 47 years of activity.

The Guitar of the Fortunate Islands and Latin American lands

PLACE: Unión Tejina Theater

Saturday’s evening in Tejina will be enlivened by a classical guitar concert by Gran Canarian performer Adrián Nuez. During the show, the native of Santa Lucía de Tirajana will play the pieces that make up his project ‘The Guitar of the Fortunate Islands and Latin American lands’.

The Cultural, Sports and Recreational Association My Superhero is You, led by Samuel Rizo, will hold a charity gala with which they seek to raise money to cover the costs of surgical materials, enable four new rooms for chronic patients on the Pediatrics floor of the University Hospital of the Canary Islands and support the NGO Sonrisas Suroeste.

The voices

The Danza en Breve cycle premieres in 2024 with ‘Las Voces’, the proposal by dancer Carlota Mantecón. During the show, Mantecón contacts the vibration of her voice to invoke phantasmagorias hidden within her body. These voices will be invoked through the sense of touch and in a plural and illusionistic act.

The Gen Cedres

On Thursday the first event of the year with the Laguna Effect cycle will take place. On this occasion, the group El Gen Cedrés will present their first work. Andrés Cabrera, Lucho Rivera, Frijol García and Emilio Cedrés promise to play with the public’s senses through ‘It’s not free, it doesn’t sell either’, an experimental album loaded with message and feeling.

PLACE: Convent of Santo Domingo

The Drago Room of the Convent of Santo Domingo hosts the exhibition ‘Altar de Espejo Canario’ that will bring those interested closer to the works of Blanca Rodríguez, Celinda Mesa and Chantal Hoesli. Focused on Wixárika culture and tradition, the art exhibition reflects Mexican sacred places.
