Ceremony commemorating the centenary of the arrival of the first Air Force aircraft to the Páramo de Gando. Present at the event, which took place next to the Gando tower, located in Teldens territory, were the president of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Antonio Morales, the president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Astrid Pérez, the councilor of the Villa de IngenuityJosé López Fabelo, the director of the Gran Canaria Airport, Santiago Martínez-Cava, as well as the host delegation, led by the colonel of the Air Base, Juan José Terrados.
The event occurred on January 18, 1924, when three Breguet under the command of Captains Joaquín Pardo, Rafael Martínez Estévez and Lieutenant Juan Martínez de Pisón. Escorting them was a Dornier Wal hydro, managed by Commander Ramón Franco. The three were part of the so-called Desert Squadron from 1928 to 1931.
To celebrate the anniversary, a series of events were held inside the Gando Air Base itself. Among the guests, the presence of the official chronicler of Gran Canaria, Juan José Laforet, stood out, who enlightened those present with the journalistic chronicles that recounted the historical milestone at that time.
