He Santa Cruz City Council and the Port Authority have coordinated to extend until the month of May the temporary and free parking on the port esplanade, which has 400 seats. This was announced by the mayor of the city, Jose Manuel Bermudezwho explained that “this is the same space that we enabled during these Christmases and sales and with which the city gains numerous parking spaces that will facilitate shopping for residents and visitors to Santa Cruz.”

Bermúdez has reported that “this space, which can be accessed through the Auditorium area, will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. from this Tuesday, January 16, and can be used until next May 31, thus Parking is also facilitated during this sales campaign and the main shopping days in the coming months” and added that “it is a necessary measure given the high influx of residents and visitors to the area with a large tourist influx and which has a very good reception among citizens and the commercial and restaurant fabric.”

For her part, the CEO of the Development Society, Carmen Pérez, explained that “it is a free, open-air parking lot, with easy access, and that allows you to visit the commercial area of the city center and that “Due to its location, it is ideal for parking the vehicle comfortably and then visiting the commercial and restaurant fabric of our capital,” explained Pérez, who thanked “the involvement of the Port Authority team in responding to this request and, for the first time “, make it extendable to more months of the year, given that it is one of the historical demands of the commercial sector of the High Tourist Area, as well as of neighbors and visitors.”

“The esplanade has more than 3,500 square meters and is located in a strategic point, close to several commercial and restaurant areas of the municipality,” said Pérez, who added that “with this action the City Council intends to favor the business community and generate a favorable environment.” for shopping, and which adds to the series of measures, promoted in recent months, such as the Christmas Shop Window route or the revitalization program in the central area of the capital, among others.

In this sense, Carmen Pérez stressed that “all these actions that we are promoting from the City Council are being carried out in coordination with the Zona Centro commercial association, and to which we also appreciate the support and involvement” and added that “Santa Cruz faces a beginning 2024 with numerous activities for all audiences and that will make thousands of visitors and neighbors come to the capital, buy in our stores and enjoy the wide gastronomic offer we have.”
