The Cabildo of Tenerife, through the area of Employment, Education and Youth, launches the ‘Ponos Moda’ initiative, a project aimed at guiding young people trained in the fashion sector to facilitate their job placement.
The program was presented this Friday by the Minister of Employment and Education, Efraín Medina, and the Minister of Youth and Training, Serafín Mesa.
Medina explained that the program “will train and support participants to facilitate their entrepreneurship and will connect young entrepreneurs and companies in the world of fashion.”
Thus, he noted that initially 25 scholarships will be allocated and networking and events will be held in which companies and scholarship recipients will take part.
“We are working transversally with different areas and on this occasion we are doing it through the Ponos Youth and Training program. We want to act as a link between people who are trained in the textile sector and companies to facilitate their job placement,” he explained. the Minister of Employment and Education,” he said.
For his part, Serafín Mesa indicated that ‘Ponos Moda’ “is aimed at young people between 18 and 35 years old with training in the fashion sector, young people with training in Higher Cycles of the professional family of textile, clothing and leather in a Degree in Artistic teachings in design and fashion, young artists who want to orient themselves professionally towards the world of fashion and companies in the sector that want to participate in the training and support of young scholarship recipients.
In his opinion, “the program offers vocational guidance and support, Ponos scholarships, networking with companies, fashion events, specific training, fashion entrepreneurship itinerary and corporate social responsibility commitments.”
Mesa also said that “the Ponos scholarships have been designed to connect entities with young people at no cost to companies with the aim of facilitating work experiences for participants while they train in different jobs” and insisted that they are “very happy to be able to launch this initiative that will allow us to relaunch and recover a sector like fashion.”
As for the Ponos scholarships, the duration will be three to four months, with a working day of 30 hours per week (six hours a day) and they include a grant of 700 gross euros per month, and at no cost to the company.
The requirements to be beneficiaries are the following: to be a participant in the ‘Ponos’ insertion itinerary, to be between 18 and 35 years old, to be a resident of Tenerife, to have binding training for the job they want to apply for with the Ponos scholarship.
SKILLS IN EMPLOYABILITY
In addition, it is considered essential that you have training in employability skills such as curriculum vitae, job interview, self-application.
The Ponos scholarships have been designed to connect entities with young people at no cost to companies with the aim of providing work experiences to participants while they train in different jobs, according to a note from the Cabildo.
Companies that wish to collaborate will be able to share their experience through professional or business motivational talks and transmit their knowledge through training for young people.
If the company has a job board, it will be disseminated through the program and visits to the companies can also be organized.
In addition, entrepreneurship in the sector will be promoted because with Ponos Moda we work for the commitment of companies in the textile sector, traditional clothing artisans and Carnival creators to welcome the scholarship recipients and collaborate in their training, thus fulfilling with their social commitment.
PONOS FASHION TEMPORARY CALENDAR
The project began in November and December of last year, preparing the project, holding meetings with fashion companies from Tenerife and other regions of Spain interested in Corporate Social Responsibility.
We also proceeded to open and register online, select and train an entrepreneurship expert, and prepare manuals and work materials.
In January, the project will be disseminated and agreements will be closed with entrepreneurs and fashion companies from Tenerife and other regions of Spain interested in Corporate Social Responsibility and from there until the month of September, vocational guidance, itineraries will begin. of entrepreneurship, the Ponos scholarships and networking and events linked to the initiative will be developed.
The Cabildo of Tenerife launched the Ponos program for orientation and first employment opportunity for young people in 2021, which is managed through the General Foundation of the University of La Laguna.
The objective is to promote the labor insertion of young people between 16 and 35 years old and the improvement of their capabilities through the development of an innovative methodology.
Specifically, work is carried out in a transversal and coordinated manner between different areas to improve training and incorporate more young people into the labor market every day.
Ponos serves around 3,000 young people each year and provides around 300 scholarships, of which 25 are initially allocated in this edition to the Ponos Moda project.
The Ponos headquarters are located in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Candelaria, Arona, Guía de Isora, Los Realejos, Santa Úrsula and La Laguna.
From there, tailored training is developed and individual orientation sessions are offered, and they call for Ponos insertion scholarships, grants that allow young people to work in associated companies for a period of up to five months while they train to improve their employability.
