Tenerife firefighters ask the population near the Arona fire to close doors and windows


The fire that has affected a composting plant in Arona (Tenerife) since last Thursday remains stable but the smoke affects nearby urban areas at specific times, which is why firefighters have asked the population to remain calm and close doors and windows of homes.

On its social networks, the Tenerife fire department has specified that this Saturday a total of 21 professional and volunteer personnel are working to fight the flames at the Arona composting plant.

Likewise, they have specified that throughout the day at certain times the direction of the air changes, which causes the smoke to also change direction and affect urban areas close to the fire.


These are specific moments in which the security force asks the population to remain calm and close the doors and windows of their homes.

The fire that has affected about 3.5 hectares of a composting plant in Arona (Tenerife) since last Thursday is getting smaller and smaller and there are practically no flames, but there is a lot of smoke that has approached the homes due to the wind Firefighters sources informed EFE.
