Twelve Tenerife fire crews with around twenty members worked tonight in the fire that declared on Thursday afternoon in a composting plant from Parque de la Reina, in Aronaand that due to its characteristics it is foreseeable that it will remain active for “several days”.

In the initial moments of the fire, it was necessary to provide medical assistance to five people, of which two were transferred to hospitals, a man with health problems and a firefighter who had an eye injury, according to 112.
The president of the Cabildo has also detailed that about 180 animals from an area adjacent to the composting plant have been evacuated from the Esperanza del Sur and Live Arico shelters.
The island corporation has asked the population of that area in the south of Tenerife to follow the instructions of the authorities and, as far as possible, avoid traveling near the plant.
In turn, the Arona City Council has advised the residents of the urban centers of Parque La Reina, Buzanada, Guaza, Cabo Blanco and Valle de San Lorenzo to take preventive measures such as closing the doors, windows and all ventilation in the house. (chimneys, heating and air conditioners) to prevent smoke from entering the home.
In addition, it has been recommended to avoid, as far as possible, staying in outdoor areas, preventing children and adults from being exposed to the outdoors and using masks if it is necessary to go outside.
The vice president of the Tenerife Cabildo, Lope Afonso, has reported in his profile x, on the precautions that the population in the affected area should take; “Close doors, windows and any ventilation to prevent smoke from entering your home”, “avoid staying outdoors and, above all, do not allow children to go out to play” or “if you go out, wear masks to protect your health respiratory”, he recalled.
Furthermore, in the case of dense cloud, you must avoid driving to prevent accidents due to lack of visibility and “if you experience symptoms related to exposure to smoke, call 112 and consult your health center”, “stay calm, avoid fear and panic” and “pay special attention to vulnerable people, such as those with respiratory problems, children and the elderly,” stands out among the recommendations.
