SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, January 12. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo of Tenerife, through Sinpromi, managed a total of 570 contracts for people with disabilities during 2023, which represents an increase of 3% in relation to those formalized in 2022.

Of the total hiring, a 9% increase in access to employment for people with significant disabilities stands out, compared to 2022.

Furthermore, more than half of the formalized hiring (317 contracts) have allowed access to employment for people with intellectual disabilities and serious mental disorders.

The Minister of Social Action, Águeda Fumero, highlights in a note “the Council’s commitment to the labor inclusion of people with disabilities and especially those who present greater difficulties, through the reinforcement of specific methodologies, such as ‘Employment with Support'”.

In this context, Fumero highlights that “one of the important lines of work for Sinpromi focuses on facilitating access to employment as a way to guarantee equal opportunities and full economic and social participation of people with disabilities, as a right.” fundamental”.

In relation to the temporality of the contracts, the balance sheet data indicate that there has been a significant increase in the indefinite nature of contracting during the year 2023, standing at 33.5%, compared to the 26% of indefinite contracts that were They formalized in 2022.

Likewise, a total of 231 companies have hired people with disabilities through Sinpromi. Of these contracts, 41% are for women, and 59% for men.

Once again, the services and hospitality sectors were the largest providers of contracts for people with disabilities, managed by Sinpromi.

The positions most offered by the companies were for cleaning, as well as administrative staff, gardening, waiter’s help, dining room and kitchen, as well as vehicle driving and warehouse staff, among others.

The balance also highlights that, through Sinpromi’s Employment area, a total of 991 job seekers were guided and informed about their access to the labor market.

SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT

These data are the result of the work carried out by the Labor Integration area of ​​Sinpromi and the individualized Employment Support Teams, aimed at the labor inclusion of people with serious mental disorders, as well as within the framework of projects in which the Society participates. Insular, such as Neighborhoods for Employment (Cabildo de Tenerife), Proyecto Incorpora (Fundación La Caixa) and project for labor inclusion of people with disabilities through supported employment (Asociación Inserta and Fundación ONCE).

Counselor Águeda Fumero highlights that “Sinpromi has been a pioneering entity in the development of programs to facilitate the access of people with disabilities to the ordinary labor market, perfecting intermediation methodologies and influencing, in particular, those people with special difficulties of insertion, through ‘Supported Employment'”.

This methodology is based on the incorporation of the person into the job, together with specialized technical personnel from Sinpromi, who accompanies, teaches the tasks of the position and remains with the employee for the necessary time, until adequate performance of the work is guaranteed.

Águeda Fumero concludes by saying that “access to employment is one of Sinpromi’s priority objectives, to facilitate the personal development and full inclusion of people with disabilities, promoting diversity in work teams, as a fundamental value towards economic progress. and social of the community”.
