The Chicharrero Carnival will once again achieve the greatest diffusion and television promotion thanks to the collaboration agreement formalized yesterday by the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife with the Corporation of Spanish Radio and Television (RTVE), and with the public entity Canarian Radio Television (RTVC), which will allow the distribution of the signal of the main events of the festival at the regional, national and international level.

The agreement involves the live broadcast of the Queen’s Galascheduled for February 7thfor all of Spain through 2nd and International Canalwith a potential audience of 400 million viewers, as well as in the RTVE and RTVC websites. For its part, Radiotelevisión Canaria guarantees regional broadcasting of the central event of the Carnival, as well as the main events of the festival programme, which will start tomorrow.

The mayor of the capital, José Manuel Bermúdez, formalized these commitments with the director of RTVE in the Canary Islands, José María García Mediano, and with the general administrator of Radio Televisión Canaria, María Méndez Castro, in the presence of the Councilor for Festivals, Javier Caraballero.

The councilor valued the importance of ensuring “the greatest television broadcasting of the Carnival events, which for a long time has been the only one in the Canary Islands declared as a Festival of International Tourist Interest, which this year will be present on the five continents, also taking care of the maximum dissemination of the program of events for the entire Archipelago.”

For his part, Méndez Castro pointed out the importance of the Chicharrero Carnival for the programming of the regional public entity “which is supported by spectacular audiences. There will be 80 hours of broadcast and six locations planned to broadcast the events.”

García Mediano thanked them for their willingness over the last few years “to form a team like RTVE and RTVC, which guarantees the dissemination of the Carnival to the five continents through the International Channel signal.”

Televisión Canaria will be in charge of producing the signal for the Queen’s Election Gala, which will reach the entire world through the RTVE International Channel, through four different signals, in order to adapt the broadcast to prime time. in addition to La 2. Likewise, RTVE’s information coverage is guaranteed in entertainment programs, news programs and Canal 24 Horas.

Likewise, it will be covered through national programs on RNE and international programs on Radio Exterior. La 2 will also broadcast live throughout the Canary Islands the Carnival Coso Apoteosis, scheduled for Tuesday, February 13.

Bermúdez assured that the television broadcast of all programming will be completed, in agreement with local television stations interested in offering the events that RTVC cannot broadcast live, such as children’s murga contests, troupes, musical groups and the Song of Laughter. To do this, the regional channel will make the signal of the events it broadcasts available to local channels.

The agreement contemplates the broadcast by Televisión Canaria of the phases and finals of the adult murgas contest, as well as the children’s murgas contests, musical groups, choreographic contest, troupes and rondallas, the Children’s Queen Election Gala, the Election Gala of the Queen of the Elders, the Announcement Parade and the Carnival Ring, in addition to one of the two events of the Day Carnival.
