Fgrid. Olsen Express and Baleària add a new ferry to the route that connects the Canary Islands with Huelva, which will allow three weekly departures starting January 13. The Sicilia ship joins the Marie Curie ferry, which allows us to offer three services for both cargo and passenger transportation, instead of the two that were carried out to date.

In the words of Fred’s fleet manager. Olsen Express, Juan Ignacio Liaño, “the integration of this new ship highlights how throughout these years the connection between the Canary Islands and Huelva has been consolidated. A necessary union that represents an improvement in logistics and service for all passengers and a connectivity alternative where a comfort and quality service is provided.”

The general director of Baleària, Georges Bassoul, states: “The incorporation of smart ship Sicily that navigates on gas allows us to improve the offer and serve all travelers as part of our commitment to offering the best service on this route, which in 2023 celebrated five years of activity.

Starting January 13, the line will have departures from Tenerife and Gran Canaria on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Meanwhile, from Huelva these routes will be made on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The modification of schedules has already been communicated to passengers who had reservations.

Fred. Olsen Express and Baleària consolidated their alliance in 2023

In November 2023, Fred. Olsen Express and Baleària celebrated their fifth anniversary by jointly operating maritime connections between the islands and the peninsula. During these first years of service, The shipping companies together transported one million linear meters of cargo and more than 155,000 passengers between Huelva and the Canary Islands. These figures have increased year after year and show the consolidation of the route.

Sicily Ferry

The Sicily ferry, 186 meters long, it has a capacity for about 1,000 people and more than 2,000 linear meters for vehicles.. It has several accommodations, such as armchairs, superior seats and cabins, and also different services such as a shop, bar, restaurant, cafeteria, area for children’s entertainment and an area for pets, among others. This gas-powered vessel has digitalized services such as Wi-Fi connection and also access to the on-demand digital entertainment platform, among other improvements.
