The Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo of Tenerife have resumed the collaboration agreement signed two terms ago to try to speed up the execution of pending road works and thus improve mobility on the island.
This is what the Tenerife president, Rosa Dávila, told journalists after a meeting with the president and vice president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo and Manuel Domínguez, respectively, stressing that projects that are “mature” and more ready will be prioritized. to bid on both institutions.
Along these lines, he has indicated that the Chafiras-Oroteanada work will finish this year and that for the Cabildo it is a “priority” to move forward the Oroteanda-Los Cristianos road and also the Adeje-Fañabé section, already awarded the project and work because “it improves substantially” the traffic situation.
Dávila has also said that there is “progress” with the “by pass” project in Guamasa given that there were contrary reports and now there is the possibility that there could be a connection with the Southern Highway at Santa María del Mar .
“It is a long work but it would be interesting to give it a boost,” he explained.
He has also said that given that there is progress in the project for the third lane of the TF-5 between Los Rodeos and La Orotava, the objective would be to at least undertake the section between the airport and Guamasa, which would be an “important advance” for drivers. that come from the north, as was proven with the closure of the Guamasa link.
Dávila has also said that the work on the Eerjos tunnel will conclude in 2025 and that there will also be works on nine links to give greater fluidity to traffic.
Likewise, and taking advantage of the negotiations to approve the next General State Budgets (PGE), he has indicated that it will be negotiated that there be funds for the trains of the North and the South within the island strategy to promote the use of public transport and improve mobility. .
