Agents of the Civil Guard They have carried out proceedings in which they are investigating four men from among 30 and 61 years already a woman of 39 for allegedly stealing 850 kilos of avocados on different farms in the north of Tenerife.
In addition to the avocados, they are accused of having stolen agricultural machinery valued at almost 6,000 euros between September and December 2023, sources from the armed institute detail.
The Civil Guard details that those investigated previously planned the assaults on the farms, which they carried out during the day, taking advantage of their knowledge of the area, in the municipalities of La Orotava, El Sauzal, El Tanque and Santa Úrsula, as well as the transit of their vehicles. owners and employees.
Modus operandi
They traveled in cars in a structured manner, since while one of the alleged perpetrators waited next to the vehicle outside the farm, the other attacked it, placing the stolen fruit in 40/50 kilo bags.
They accessed the farms by jumping over the perimeter fence or without any impediment, where they had few security measures.
The stolen avocados were “quickly placed” for illegal marketing, “with the risks that this may also pose to the health of consumers, since the fruit had not passed the necessary/mandatory health controls,” emphasizes the Civil Guard.
The proceedings carried out have been sent to the respective investigating courts on duty.
