The City Council of La Laguna, through the Citizen Participation Area, has taken stock after the celebration of the first edition of CONvive La Laguna, an initiative that was born with the objective of promoting the participation of Laguneros and Laguneros in the beautification of the common spaces. More than 300 people and 43 entities have participated in its development.

In this first edition, half a dozen strategic spaces were selected in the different districts of the municipality, “to give them back the spotlight and generate new outdoor environments that favor coexistence.” This was indicated by the second deputy mayor and Councilor for Citizen Participation, Fran Hernández, who highlights “the positive impact that these types of actions have that favor the cohesion of the community and strengthen the feeling of belonging of the people who make it up, promoting neighborhood interaction.”

Hernández explains that the collaborative work that has been carried out during the more than six months of execution of this initiative has also contributed to supporting the relationships between the participating people and entities and the local businesses close to the beautified areas.

CONvive La Laguna is part of the Community Project, a municipal initiative that seeks to promote community organization to offer responses to the social challenges of the districts of La Laguna.

Since March 2023, CONvive La Laguna carried out a series of actions to strengthen the community fabric. In the month of March, the initiative and its objectives were presented at the ‘First Community Meeting’. Later, in the ‘Second Community Meeting’, the lines of action revolved around the detection of challenges and opportunities in the different territories.

Then, during the design phase, the ‘Third Community Meeting’ was held, in which the working commissions were established: Viability Commission, in collaboration with the San Cristóbal de La Laguna City Council, as well as the Sponsorship Commissions and Communication.

At the ‘Fourth Community Meeting’, at the beginning of September, the promoting groups worked to promote the goals of the project, in addition to holding the ‘Draw your square’ workshop, where citizens offered their creativity and imagination to create a sketch for the beautification of the La Hornera Urbanization park.

Finally, CONvive La Laguna concluded with a ‘Final Community Meeting’, an event in which the achievements were addressed and a commitment was made to continue with this type of initiatives.
