The Icod de los Vinos City Council will have to return a subsidy of 800,000 euros granted in 2018 for a work that would link the streets Fray Cristóbal Oramas, Elías Serra Rafols and the Preceptor ravine and that was never carried out. This is clear from the requirement that the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda has sent to the City Council, which states that the justification for these works had to have been presented between the years 2020 and 2021 and, however, it was not sent .
“We have fifteen days to return almost a million euros to the ministry because since this subsidy was received to date no action has been justified on this work that is so necessary for the municipality and for which that money was received,” he said. indicated by the Councilor for Education and Works, Jorge González.
This subsidy was resolved in December 2018, and its contribution had to be invested in the work of joining Fray Cristóbal Oramas street and the Preceptor ravine through Elías Serra Rafols street, thus generating a new road that, once completed It would be municipally owned.
Before November 30, 2021, it had to have been justified that “the destination of the subsidy made was in accordance with the purpose for which it was granted”, however on those dates no report was issued.
“So now, the City Council receives a justification request for a work that should have been started and was not done in the years 2020, 2021, 2022 or 2023, and no justifying report was issued either, so we “We are obliged to return money to the State, or what is the same, and as has been vulgarly said, we have had to throw away almost a million euros due to the lack of management of the previous Government group,” stressed the councilor.
“There is still a possibility of not having to return the entire amount of this subsidy, but to do so we must find some document that justifies that something has been done in this work, and for now the municipal technicians have not found it,” the councilor commented.
