the balance of the PSOE on the six months of CC in the Cabildo of Tenerife

“More queues on the roads, without a train project and with cuts in Equality”, is the assessment made by the PSOE on the management of these first six months of the Canarian Coalition in the Tenerife Cabildo. Socialist spokesperson Aarón Afonso denounces that Rosa Dávila takes many photographs but “does not advance in real projects” that provide solutions to citizens’ problems because “her management of her is based on big smoke advertisements.”

“In the balance of these first six months of management there are only unfulfilled promises, many announcements and few real projects,” denounces the PSOE.

On the one hand, the party criticizes that the queues have worsened and believes that it is a reality that all the people who circulate on the TF-1 and TF-5 motorways every day can confirm. “During this time, it has announced that the cranes will arrive at the accidents in less than 15 minutes, which does not happen. It has also carried out a failed experiment to decongest traffic on the Tf-5, leaving the inhabitants of Guamasa, Tejina, Tegueste and other towns without access to the highway. Every day in Tenerife there are more and more queues due to their immobility and occurrences,” he denounces.

Likewise, the PSOE reproaches that Rosa Dávila has announced in her multiple interviews and appearances that the trains from the North and the South “were the great solution to mobility on the Island.” However, in the 2024 Budgets approved with the votes of CCPP and VOX, “0 euros are allocated for the Northern Train and 50,000 euros for the Southern Train.”

“With these contributions it is evident that the trains become another smoke advertisement for the president, who is also not committed to the highway projects that the socialist governments in the Cabildo and the Government of the Canary Islands left advanced, as is the case of the La Laguna bypass or the BUS-HOV lanes on both highways,” criticizes the PSOE.

On the other hand, the training points out that in the 2024 Budget there are only 2 million euros allocated to works at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium: 1.5 million will be allocated to the renovation of the seats and another 0.5 will go to projects . “It is evident that with this money it is impossible to carry out a comprehensive renovation of the property so that it is ready for the centenary,” he says.

The socialists emphasize that Rosa Dávila remembers on many occasions that she is the first woman to preside over the Cabildo of Tenerife in its 110 years of history and constantly announces her feminist commitment. “Even so, it is the first corporation in decades to reduce the budget for Equality and against gender violence,” they denounce.

“Other signs of its ‘no’ commitment to Equality is that it does not have female vice presidents; that it has suppressed the Delegate Council for Equality and that it has rejected an amendment from the socialist group for the Corporation to present women to the Canary Awards. Something similar happens in Diversity: a president who displays the trans flag at public events but then cuts the area’s budget by 50%,” they lament.

Furthermore, the PSOE highlights that the president of the Cabildo has assured on several occasions that she will strengthen the relationship with the municipalities, but this party believes that the Cabildo budgets are “anti-municipalist” because “they almost eliminate the subsidy for employment policies, leaving it at 1 million euros compared to 8.8 million the previous year; which is 88% less and very far from the three programs worth the 29 million euros of the Socialist Government.”

It also denounces that the Municipal Modernization Program is reduced by 40% and the budget of the Insular Water Council is reduced by 17%. “Among other issues, it makes a very unequal distribution between municipalities of funds such as those destined for cultural infrastructure or housing rehabilitation,” he says.
