SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan. 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saiz, guaranteed this Tuesday that there will be a legal norm to promote the mandatory distribution of migrant minors among all the autonomous communities, although she has not ignored that it is a matter that falls within the Congress of the Deputies.
“The Government complies with what it signs,” he told journalists after meeting with the president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, and before visiting the migrant camps located in Las Raíces and Las Canteras, in the municipality of La Laguna (Tenerife). .
The minister has pointed out that the Government will get “to work imminently” although she understands that any legislative modification must have the “backing” of Congress, so we will have to work to find “consensus” and that the rule that is articulate “get ahead.”
In this sense, he has indicated that it is important that the process be carried out with “active listening” and “hand in hand” with the different autonomous communities and all the actors involved, although he has highlighted that “it is not an optional issue but a matter of State” since the protection of human rights is also at stake.
Questioned about the immigration ‘single command’ that the Government of the Canary Islands demands, she stressed that “the Canary Islands are not alone” because the central government “has been giving a response” since the arrivals of migrants increased and all the modifications “have to have its process”.
He has indicated that “the best example” of the way the Government works was the last Sectoral Conference on Migration with the presence of all the ministries “involved” in migration management, in the case of Interior and Territorial Policy, Children and Adolescents, apart from the of Migrations. “That is the way to address this reality as an administration,” she added.
The minister has also highlighted that it is “good news” that the Asylum and Migration Pact has been approved within the European Union after seven years of negotiations since it places the “claims and peculiarities” of Spain “at the heart” of the continent.
He has said that all resources “are necessary”, he has valued that there is a “common response” from the EU and that all the “tools” that are available are used to guarantee a good migratory reception, while he has indicated that he will continue State funding and the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan from Next Generation funds are arriving to address this phenomenon – a first subsidy of 50 million arrived and the Canary Islands Government estimates the cost at 104 million.
