Tenerife registered a total of 433,576 travelers entering establishments (hotel and apartment) in November, 5.9% more than in November 2022.
For its part, the number of travelers staying, which includes both travelers who have entered the month and those who remain staying with previous arrivals, the total number of travelers staying in Tenerife establishments stands at 524,477 staying in November, 7 .5% higher than the November 2022 figure.
In relation to 2019 data, the number of entered travelers increased by 10.3% and those accommodated by 11.2%.
The vice president and Minister of Tourism, Lope Afonso, assures in a note that “2023 was a successful year for the Tenerife tourism sector, which has fully recovered after the pandemic, and which confirms it as a leading destination in the Canary Islands and also at the national level. international”.
Furthermore, it indicates that “the strategy being followed by Tenerife Tourism is reaffirmed, projecting the destination’s expectations not only in traditional markets, but also in those that have been revealed in recent months as potentially increasing.”
According to Lope Afonso, “Tenerife is in good health in terms of tourism, and that leads us to think that 2024 will be another great tourist year where we will continue to advance towards a quality destination.”
79.1% of the total travelers entered hotel establishments, which represents 342,786 travelers, 5.6% more than the previous year, and 20.9% of the total entered apartments, with 90,790 travelers entered. , 7.0% more than in the same month of 2022.
Compared to 2019, hotels registered an increase of 15.6%, while apartments maintained 6% less traffic than in November 2019.
Travelers entering Tenerife establishments in November account for 38.4% of the total in the Canary Islands. Accommodations in Gran Canaria received 27.6%, Lanzarote 17.3% and Fuerteventura 14.3%.
The remaining accommodation indicators also increase in November. Thus, 2,964,758 overnight stays were registered in the month, 7.4% more than those registered in November 2022 and 7.7% higher than those registered in November 2019.
Hotels increased their overnight stays by 5.3% in November compared to the previous year and 13.2% compared to 2019 and apartments, although they improved by 13.9% compared to 2022, remained 6% lower than those of 2019.
ALMOST 92% OF ALLOWANCES ARE FROM FOREIGNERS
Of the total overnight stays recorded in the month, 91.9% were generated by travelers residing abroad and the remaining 8.1% by residents in Spain.
The average stay stood at 6.84 days in November, increasing by 0.09 days compared to that registered in the previous year, although it still remains 0.16 days lower than that of 2019.
The stay in hotels stood at 6.50 days (-0.02 days compared to the previous year and -0.13 days less than in 2019) and in apartments, at 8.10 days (+0.49 days compared to 2022 and just -0.01 days less than in 2019).
Occupancy stood at 77.8% in the month, increasing by +5.7% compared to that registered in 2022, and also compared to November 2019, an increase of 12.9% was recorded.
The occupancy rate in hotels reached 81.7 in November 2023, increasing by 4.2% compared to the previous year and +12.1% compared to 2019.
For their part, the apartments reached 68% occupancy, 10.7% more than in November 2022.
In the accumulated period from January to November 2023, 4,756,623 travelers have entered tourist establishments in Tenerife (hotels and apartments), 9.7% more than in the same period of the previous year.
