One of the most magical days of the year is approaching. Christmas and the most special for the little ones in the house is the arrival of the visit of the Three Wise Men of the East to the municipality, and according to what they have communicated by telephone to the mayor of the town, Francisco Linares: “they come loaded with many surprises.” For this reason, and to receive them as they deserve, the local institution is making all the necessary preparations for the big day.
These days, a coordination meeting was held in the municipal offices to guarantee security on the day of the parade, chaired by Mayor Francisco Linares and with members of the Local Police, Civil Protection, Red Cross, Civil Guard and Cecopal. , in addition to the security and party councilors, respectively, Narciso Pérez and Alexis Pacheco. At the meeting, the Security Plan for the Three Kings Parade was presented, which will have an operation of 75 troops, traffic cuts and parking prohibitions that especially affect the downtown area, among other things.
The first institutional representative, Francisco Linares, values this coordination meeting, because it is an extraordinary day in which a significant number of people work so that everything goes well, and the little ones, together with their parents, friends and family, They can fully enjoy the parade and visit of their Majesties.
La Orotava thus celebrates, as is tradition, one of the largest parades with the greatest public attendance in the entire north of Tenerife. Each edition is surprised by the number of people who come to enjoy it, more than 25,000 people, “and this requires careful coordination in terms of security.” For this reason, during the previous weeks the Security and Festival departments have worked in a coordinated manner to take care of all the details and coordinate as much as possible.
The councilor for Security, Narciso Pérez, emphasizes that, hours before the start of the parade, Cecopal will be operational, which will coordinate all resources and from where a response will be given to any incident that may occur. There will be a medical device of three ambulances, one of them medicalized, as well as a significant number of local police and civil guard agents, Civil Protection and Red Cross volunteers. This year, for safety reasons, the space between the sidewalk and the road on Carrera Escultor Estévez Street will be fenced off, as it is one of the narrowest points on the route. For this reason, in this edition one of the measures to be implemented is protection to prevent children from jumping into the street to grab candy; In this space it will not be possible.
The collaboration of the public along the route, especially parents, is also requested so that they follow any instructions from the organization team and keep an eye on the little ones. Everyone’s collaboration will contribute to the best development and success of the parade.
The arrival of the Three Wise Men to La Orotava is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. They will depart, in their respective vehicles, from the Doña Chana Cultural Park to San Juan, traveling along Avda. Obispo Benítez de Lugo, Avda. de Canarias, Calvario streets, Carrera Escultor Estévez, San Francisco, Salazar, Pescote, Doctor González García, La Candelaria, Domingo Hernández, Goya, Zurbarán, La Cancela, Plaza la Piedad and Rómulo Bethencourt. Around 4:00 p.m. they will arrive at the Plaza de San Juan, where they will be received by Mayor Francisco Linares, who has the magic key that opens all the homes in the municipality. During the itinerary, 1,700 kilos of gluten-free candies, some 5,000 whistles, and 6,000 three king flags will be distributed, provided by the Festival Department. In addition to the floats of each king, other floats inspired by various themes from the children’s world will parade.
