SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan. 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo of Tenerife, through the Insular Crafts Company, launches from January 2 to 5 the XXVI Crafts Fair in Reyes in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the XV Christmas Crafts Market in La Laguna.
The capital event brings together 46 artisans, who offer 24 different modalities, while in La Laguna 29 artisans meet with 19 different artisan modalities.
Thus, both fairs will remain open from January 2 to 4 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., while on Friday the 5th their hours will be extended until 12:00 a.m.
The president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, the Minister of Employment and Education, Efraín Medina, the general director of Cultural Innovation and Creative Industries, Cristóbal de la Rosa; The mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez and the first deputy mayor of La Laguna, Badel Albelo, took a tour of both exhibitions this Tuesday.
Rosa Dávila pointed out in a note that they are “very proud” to have a new edition of this initiative that takes place in Santa Cruz and La Laguna.
“From the Cabildo we are once again promoting the artisan sector, linking it with many activities of innovation, development and creativity. We encourage people to visit the fairs and buy those details that are unique and that are made here, in Tenerife, by our artisans,” he commented.
José Manuel Bermúdez indicated that they are “happy” to have a fair that the Cabildo traditionally holds in the city, in the case of the Kings Fair, where participants present “the best” of their products so that there is “some artisanal detail” in Christmas gifts.
“This helps us not only to have another shopping point, but also animates our city because many people are going to come here to walk and enjoy the crafts,” he indicated.
For his part, Badel Albelo valued this initiative “as a great opportunity to show the talent and work of professionals in this sector, in addition to promoting the acquisition of local products and contributing to the revitalization of the city during these Christmas shopping dates.” “.
For this reason, he invited La Laguna citizens to be part of this proposal “which every year gains in quality and interest.”
REINFORCE CREATIVITY
Cristóbal de la Rosa explained that from the point of view of the Government of the Canary Islands they “constantly support all those industries that are based on a prior process of creativity.”
In his opinion, “collaboration with other administrations is important when it comes to reinforcing the role of creativity in a series of industries that we often do not link to culture but that are an inextricable part of it.”
46 exhibitors participate in the XXVI Reyes Crafts Fair, offering the public a production corresponding to 24 craft modalities: Patchwork, Carpenter, Ceramicist, Fabric Decoration, Bookbinding, Felt, Crochet, Printing and Engraving, Soap Making, Jewelry Making, Toy Maker, Macramé , Leather goods, Modeler, Dressmaker, Doll making, Paper and cardboard, Recycling of materials, Traditional costumes, Wood turner, in addition to the traditional ones of Traditional Pottery, Cigars, Rosettes and Openwork.
For its part, the XV Christmas Craft Market is held in the Plaza del Adelantado and has the participation of 29 artisans, who will offer the public a production corresponding to 19 craft modalities: Pottery, Almazuelas, Carpentry, Ceremony, Fabric Decoration, Enamels, Felt, Crochet, Jewelry, Toymaker, Macramé, Leather goods, Dressmaker, Dollmaker, Woodturning, glassworking in addition to the traditional ones of Traditional Woodworker, Weaver and Openwork.
