The weather, with no forecast of rain or wind, is good. Tenerife will once again say goodbye to the year and usher in 2024, becoming a large dance floor, in public squares, in private homes, in clubs or discotheques. Everything is to eat the grapes among friends and family and toast good wishes, while the fireworks will accompany the full moon and the orchestras and DJs will liven up the evening, where the youngest will continue it until dawn and even in some cases until noon.
This year, the big news is that many town councils have also organized the New Year’s Eve day, dedicated to the little ones, similar to what already happens with Carnival – by the way, just around the corner. What’s more, in Güímar, after several failures in the nighttime celebration, they have decided to organize the farewell to 2023 from 12 to 7 p.m. in San Pedro Square, with party favors and grapes included. They will perform Not a hair of a fool, DJ Jacob and the essential orchestra Maracaibo y la Marejada de el.
For those who are not few, and experience the chimes from their homes, they have three television options to experience that moment. Canarian Television will offer them this year from Guía de Isora, from the plaza of the Nuestra Señora de la Luz church. Two guancheras, Wendy Fuentes and Eloísa González will be accompanied by Daniel Calero and Elvis Sanfiel.
Spanish Television in the Canary Islands has also chosen Tenerife to bring the bells to the entire archipelago, but in this case from the north, specifically from Santa Úrsula. The singer Nía Correia and the presenter Roberto Herrera will be in charge of saying goodbye to the year. The music will be provided by Fabrizzio Salgado, DJ Chris G, The Boys Machine and Pepe Benavente.
The capital of Tenerife will welcome the new year with a series of private parties, although the largest concentration is expected in the Plaza de la Candelaria from where, after twelve bells, there will be a low-impact pyrotechnic display. The dance will feature performances by Renzzo El Selector, the Maracaibo orchestra, Las KNarias, the Revelación orchestra and DJ Wes. Before noon, the farewell to the children’s year will be celebrated, with candy grapes – which do not contain gluten or sugar -, taking advantage of the fact that this year the 31st falls on a Sunday and parents do not work.
In La Laguna, in the Plaza de la Concepción from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. artists such as Tonny Tun Tun, Pepe Benavente, the Orquesta Dorada Band and the famous Canarian DJ Ray Castellano will take the stage. But there will not only be a party in the town, but also La Cuesta, in the Plaza del Tranvía, entertained by the Relieve group and the Sonora Olympia orchestra, or also in the church squares of Tejina, Valle de Guerra and Punta del Hidalgo.
In Tegueste, Atenia and Latin Sound will entertain the last night of the year starting at 11:30 p.m. in the Plaza de San Marcos.

From north to south

Continuing north, in Tacoronte, in the Plaza del Cristo, starting at 11:30 p.m., party favors, grapes and live music with Grupo La Calle and the Orquesta Tejina. In Puerto de la Cruz, in Plaza del Carco there will be La Calle and Swing Latino. La Orotava does not organize end-of-year dances as such, but it does organize clubs and associations such as the Liceo Taoro.
In Icod de los Vinos, starting at 00:30 in the Plaza Andrés de Lorenzo Cáceres there will be dancing with the Sabrosa and Sonora Olympia, Vamos and la Liamos orchestras and the DJ Dany Méndez.
Garachico will say goodbye to 2023 in style with the traditional New Year’s Eve party at the San Francisco roundabout. The Corinto Band orchestra, Ni un pelo de tonto, DJ Adam Lorr and DJ Chris Hernández will be there.
If we go to the south, the great dance organized by the Candelaria City Council in the Plaza de la Patrona de Canarias stands out. Three orchestras, Tenerife, Sabrosa, Wamampy, and the artist Tony del Cielo will be in charge of animating the evening. In addition, to continue with the joy of the new year, on the afternoon of January 1 there will be a special New Year’s Dance of He who does not run… dance, dedicated to the elderly.
In Arafo, in the Plaza San Juan Degollado, there will be dancing with Dorada Band, Revelación and Acapulco, and at night on the 1st, in the Juan Carlos I auditorium, a concert by the band Nivaria, with Besay Pérez and Cristina Ramos.
One of the classics on this date is El Médano. The great farewell of the year will begin with a dance from 10 at night with the group Una Hora Menos and the Atlantic orchestras of La Gomera, Malibú Band and Tropin until six in the morning in the central square of the coastal town of Granadilla de Abona.
In Los Cristianos, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., the exterior of the Los Cristianos Cultural Center will offer two environments enlivened, on the one hand, by the Wamampy, Tropin and Los Ideales orchestras, and on the other, the DJ area with David Pérez, Carlos Delgado, Pablo Barrios and Renzzo El Selector. It goes without saying that there will also be parties in the different clubs and discotheques of Playa de las Américas, aimed especially at young people and tourists.
In Adeje, in the Plaza de España, you can dance to the rhythm of DJ Chris Hernández and Santy Pérez and the Maquinaria Band, Sensación Gomera and Toke Latino orchestras.
In Santiago del Teide, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., the farewell and entry of the new year will be celebrated in the Plaza Buganvilla de Los Gigantes with performances by Grupo Paraíso, Orquesta Arguayo Band, Orquesta Maraury and 8Smile.
