This year I am going to change my 2024 resolutions for achievable gastronomic desires and, in addition, I have to celebrate my 40th birthday. I want to start by visiting one of the places where I always have a good time and it is none other than Camino al Jamonal from my friend Miguel and family, their Iberian ham pincho and caramelized salad are worth a visit but first it’s time to stop by Valentina and toast with some of their vermouths. I also want to take a trip to Lanzarote, disconnect in Buenavista Lanzarote; enjoy your breakfast on the terrace, hang out at Papagayo, have an aperitif at one of his beach clubs and finish with a rice meal at Sebe, where my friend Santi and his partner Bego are great hosts like no one else. I will definitely escape to Tenerife: I have pending Haydee, by Víctor Suarez, which also debuts a Michelin Star this year, but first, I will enjoy a good seafood platter in Nicomedes, in the Nuestra Señora de África market, and any of the sweets from the Relieve pastry shop : I especially love the one in Puerto de la Cruz where Alfredo, head pastry chef, has his own cocoa roaster. Finally, I want to disconnect with my family in La Graciosa. For that occasion I will bring good reading but my backpack will not lack a good Flor de Guía de Cristóbal cheese, from the Cortijo de Caideros cheese factory, with a good wine from Vicky Torres: her albillo criollo is from another planet. There would also be some carabineros from La Santa to finish the menu. For breakfast, croissants from Alexis, made from 100% Puff Pastry (Tenerife), with a good coffee from Agaete. Small pleasures that I already have on my to-do list for 2024, which I hope comes full of challenges and good times around a table.
