SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, December 27 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The La Orotava City Council has ordered the provisional closure of access to Los Patos beach due to the landslide that occurred in the area these days. The City Council is calling for people to respect the signs and not access the beach until action can be taken in the area.
Thus, on the morning of this Monday, December 25, the Local Police was alerted that large stones had fallen in the sand, so the agents immediately moved to the area and checked the situation. The area where the landslide occurred has not affected the access staircase, but for safety reasons the agents proceeded to cut it as a precaution.
This morning an inspection visit was carried out with municipal technicians and specialists in vertical work, checking the state of the cliff in the affected place and it was observed that it has several unstable points. The Local Police Drone Unit was also used, which with the inspection flight allowed the technicians to have closer images of the wall.
With all this, and after an emergency meeting to assess the situation, it has been decided to maintain the closure of access to Los Patos Beach, until sanitation work can be undertaken on all the material that, although it has not fallen, has left loose on the cliff and could seriously endanger people’s safety.
In the coming days, the work to be carried out on the cliff will be finalized, with the aim of being able to restore access as soon as possible.
