The Cabildo, through Tenerife Tourismwill promote the island as a tourist destination in the Dakar 2024with the Italo-Canarian pilot, Christine GZ.

He Dakar Rally 2024which takes place from January 5 to 19 in Saudi Arabia, will become the showcase of the island as a destination through this renowned driver, who will compete in the light vehicle test with the team TC Racingof the footballer Thibaut Courtois. The historic test will be followed by more than 70 television channels, with reach in almost 200 countries, and with an impact of more than 200 million people.

The presentation of this collaboration took place this morning, at the Tenerife Councilwith the presence of the vice president and Minister of Tourism, Lope Afonsothe CEO of Tenerife Tourism, Dimple Melwaniand the president of the Tenerife Automobile Federation, Francisco Negrin.

During the presentation, Afonso stressed that “in the promotion strategy of Tenerife as tourist destination It is important to make ourselves known in potential future markets,” while Dimple Melwani stressed that “participating in this promotion will have an important impact, both in the media and on networks.”

The agreement between the Cabildo, through Tenerife Tourism, and Christine GZ aims to reinforce the image of the island as a tourist reference through the brand Tenerife, awaken emotions!through the values ​​of authenticity, modernity or vitality, which embody both the destination and the athlete, a young woman qualified within her sector and with extensive experience in motor sports events.

In detail, the link includes the presence of the image of Tenerife in elements such as the competition car, the assistance truck, the motorhome of the pilot and co-pilot, the equipment, including that of mechanics, engineers, communication, as well as advertising media.

The action also includes promotion on the social networks of Christine herself, with more than 350,000 followers, and on those of the TC Racing team, the production company Hache.tv or Thibaut Courtois (15 million followers), among others. Likewise, the pilot’s participation in the 2024 Dakar Rally will be recorded as content for a three-episode series, and under the title Dreaming Dakar, it will include the athlete’s struggle to fulfill her dream of racing in a test of these characteristics. .

Christine GZ, of Italian origin, has spent much of his life in Tenerife. His career as a driver began when he was 10 years old, when in 2014 he won the Canary Islands Gravel Rally championship. The following year, she debuted in the National Rally Championship and in 2012 she became the first WRC Spain champion with an all-female team. After his debut in the offroad category in The 50th Baja 1000 in the United States in 2017, he has taken part in events such as the Baja Aragón, the Baja Andalucía or the Baja 500 within the Road to Dakar program, as well as in the Podium Extreme E of Scotland, where he has spent three seasons so far.
