SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, December 26 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Ministries of Ecological Transition and Energy and of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands collaborate to continue implementing renewable energies in the public sector and, specifically, for the development of photovoltaic energy for self-consumption in the educational centers of the Islands.
To this end, they are working on a joint project that will definitively start in the first months of 2024 with the placement of photovoltaic panels in 50 centers throughout the Canary Islands, which will thus see their electrical conditions improved, reducing consumption and, therefore, spending; improving sustainability and avoiding problems in facilities that, until now, suffered from a lack of investment.
In this sense, the Minister of Ecological Transition and Energy, Mariano H. Zapata, highlighted the existence of a firm commitment from his department to contribute to solving some of those problems that, in terms of infrastructure, schools and institutes are suffering.
“We have detected the problems, we will take measures and carry out joint work to carry them out,” said Zapata, who pointed out that all of this is part of a global action strategy to give greater relevance to renewable energies in the Archipelago and that “it includes in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, for the energy self-sufficiency of Public Administrations”.
For his part, the Minister of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports, Poli Suárez, has shown his confidence that, after the coordination meetings carried out by technical staff from both Ministries, “this ambitious project will become a reality as soon as possible. as soon as possible, and that we can install a large number of photovoltaic panels in the coming months.
