Chemical and acoustic pollution, impact on the seabed, electromagnetic interference and damage to fauna due to collision These are some of the causes that motivate the allegations with which Arico will oppose the construction of the Granadilla Wind Farm. They assure that ghas a negative impact on Tajao, Las Arenas, La Caleta and Las Maretas, space in front of which this infrastructure will be located.
The last to speak was Arico We Are All, through its two councilors. This local political formation understands that “its location conditions the development of a very important part of the Arico coast and seriously threatens the continuity of the artisanal fishing that takes place in Tajao.” «This is a real attack. We can’t allow it. “We will fight with all our strength.”maintains AST.
Already in May of last year, the Arico City Council, neighborhood associations and the Fishermen’s Guild of San Miguel de Tajao presented allegations to the proposed location. of the wind farm offshore attached to the Port of Granadilla. At that first moment they already talked about how it “negatively affects the quality of life of the coastal populations.” He highlighted “the social and institutional consensus to preserve the entire coastal strip from the installation of wind and photovoltaic parks for the protection of the landscape and the natural environment, as well as to promote sustainable development in this municipal territory.”
Call
Arico Somos Todos recalls that existing studies “explain the negative repercussions of offshore wind farms on the environment where they are located.” From the perspective of AST, “it will mean an impact of such magnitude that these sites will be unrecognizable not only visually, but also with noise and installations of cables and towers to draw energy to land, which will mean that these places will never be “Never the same ones.” For this reason, he calls on neighbors to file complaints.

The Granadilla Offshore Wind Farm project and its environmental impact study are in the public information phase. It will consist of five wind turbines located between 1,850 and 3,650 meters from the Port of Granadilla, with a power of 50 megawatts. Its construction and installation will require an investment of 103,771,367 euros, according to the promoter consortium formed by BlueFloat Energy and Capital Energy, with Esteyco as a technological partner.
The environmental impact study concludes that the project is compatible and viable. It specifies that more than 90% of the cost, excluding the supply of the turbines, will benefit existing companies and technologies in Tenerife. That is, “direct work for more than 300 people for almost three years, and indirect work for an even larger number.”
