He Tenerife Council will place a prefabricated wooden bridge on the Caño Chingue forest track, in San Juan de la Ramblain the place known as ‘Salto de Las Palomas’ to improve security.
The island corporation has approved the order from the public company Gesplan for an amount of 277,872.40 euros and an execution period of 12 months.
The Minister of Natural Environment, Sustainability and Security and Emergencies, Blanca Pérez, points out in a note that “this is an action on the Caño Chingue track, one of the most important in the central territory of the island because its route connects infrastructures. important, especially those destined to extinguish forest fires.”
According to the counselor, “it is a track that is frequently traveled by heavy vehicles equipped to fight forest fires and it is necessary to guarantee its safety, which is why it has been decided to place a wooden bridge.”
One of the embankment slopes on which the track runs has collapsed as a result of a mass movement due to the pounding of water at the base of the slope, as a result of the jump produced by the waterfall located in the ravine that divides the municipalities. from San Juan de la Rambla and Los Realejos in the area called ‘Salto de las Palomas’.
As a result of this collapse, it is necessary to act to improve the management of the Protected Natural Area.
