Compass Group donates 100 panettones in Tenerife to people in vulnerable situations


Compass Group Spain, through its specialized brands Eurest, Medirest and Scolarest, distributes this Christmas, within the initiative Grow Food Banks500 Solidarity Panettones among people in vulnerable situations. In Tenerife, the action of the collective catering company has been carried out in three points: the Hogar Santísimo Cristo de La Laguna nursing home, in the Don Bosco Foundation, where warded minors are cared for, and in the Nuestra Señora de Esperanza de San Isidro, which serves families in vulnerable situations.

The Christmas panettones have been made by the prestigious pastry chef Oriol Balaguer, winner of the II Competition for best Artisan Panettone in Spain and Best Pastry Chef of 2018 by the International Academy of Gastronomy. With this action, we seek to share a special detail beyond food donations, focused on essential products.

Joan Vergés, Director of Education and Senior of Compass Group Spain, highlights that “seeing the excitement on all of their faces when they receive these Panettones is the best gift we have every Christmas.” Furthermore, she pointed out “from Compass and thanks to Grow Food Banks we collaborate with families in their daily lives and we want this initiative to continue growing to reach more people.”

Carolina Salas, Tenerife Scolarest area manager and central kitchen, commented that “on behalf of Compass Group, we hope that these panettones bring you joy and warmth in this special time, in the same way we want to extend our support and love to those who receive them. , who need our love. We hope these panettones bring you sweetness and smiles this Christmas season.”


The distribution has also taken place in Madrid, Alicante, Barcelona and Granada. Members of the management of Compass Group Spain participate in all these cities along with more people who are part of the company’s team to show their commitment and sensitivity to the social environment that surrounds them.

The Grow Food Banks initiative began in July 2020 as a result of the pandemic and has already distributed nearly 240 tons of donated aid thanks to the solidarity of all those who collaborate. Compass Group explains that it has managed to involve clients, users and suppliers in this project to support those who need it most.

This fourth edition of the Solidarity Panettone takes place in five centers in different cities and in all of them 100 units of this Christmas sweet are delivered.

In Madrid the delivery was made to the Foundation for Solidarity Cooperation, with whom Compass Group collaborates in different national and international campaigns. Also, in Granada the distribution was carried out at the San Juan de Dios Soup Kitchen.

They were also delivered in Alicante, at the San Rafael center for people with intellectual disabilities of the Estima Foundation. The last city was Barcelona, ​​where the children of FEP Nuestra Señora de Montserrat EE, which serves children with functional diversity, enjoyed one hundred panettones from the renowned chef.
