SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, December 19. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, was in favor this Tuesday of having General State Budgets (PGE) but there is “real justice” with the islands and they contemplate the Canarian agenda, bilateral agreements, compliance with the REF, free public transport or debt relief on equal terms with Catalonia.
In response to a question from the Socialist Group in the control session, he indicated that in that case the budgets will be “good” for the archipelago because otherwise, if there is an “injustice” the Canary Islands will be further distanced from the rest of Spain.
The president has pointed out that in the Canary Islands “there are not two governments, there is one”, and “with loyalty” to the Canary Islands, beyond the position held by the different parliamentary groups and in this sense, he has disgraced Franquis who in the past voted against the 75% discount for residents and free public transport.
“Was he acting with loyalty to the Canary Islands?” he asked, noting that on many occasions he has voted against the general interests of the islands “out of obedience to his bosses.”
Franquis has pointed out that “it is very bad for the Canary Islands” that there is no PGE, which is why he has called on Clavijo to “take this matter seriously” because “the Canary Islands agenda would be nothing” without the state budget.
He has recalled how the current first vice president of Parliament, Ana Oramas (CC), denounced in 2010 that Cristóbal Montoro (PP) told her not to support the cutback plan because they wanted “Spain to fall” and then lift it.
Now he has pointed out that “half” of the Canary Islands Executive “is in that strategy, that Spain falls” so he hopes that it has the “ability to influence its partner” thinking about the general interest of the islands.
“We are concerned that they will do what the Fiscal and Financial Policy Council does again when the counselor –Matilde Asián– aligned herself with the strategy of the PP and not that of the Government,” he pointed out, highlighting that when José Manuel Soria was counselor of The Treasury was “able to differentiate” the interests of its party from those of the autonomous community by abstaining.
For this reason, he has called on the members of the Government to “defend the interests of this land and not put themselves at the service of the PP, which only seeks to paralyze and cause this country to fall and break up,” he indicated.
