SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, December 19 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Council of Ministers approved today, Tuesday, at the proposal of the Ministry of Finance and Public Function, a subsidy of 100 million euros to the Canary Islands to finance aid intended to compensate for the economic damages caused to individuals and companies as a direct or indirect consequence of the volcanic eruption that began on September 19, 2021 on the island of La Palma.
The purpose of the financial aid will be to repair or compensate all damages suffered in all types of property and activities carried out by the people and entities affected by the effects of the volcano, allowing them to recover their personal, family, professional, social and economic activities. economically, in conditions of quality of life equivalent to those they had before the eruption.
The Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, to whom the Special Commissioner for the Reconstruction of the island of La Palma depends, has highlighted that this transfer “is one more example that the Government of Spain continues to comply with its commitments. acquired with La Palma”.
The subsidies will be granted on a direct concession basis, due to the public and social interest derived from the unique circumstances that the island of La Palma has experienced. The direct beneficiary of this subsidy is the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, which must process and manage the aid and adopt the necessary measures so that the damage caused by the eruption of the volcano can be alleviated.
SUBSIDIZED ACTIONS.
Material damage to all types of property will be eligible for subsidies, including the destruction or disabling of homes and complementary buildings, as well as buildings, facilities and property used for business activities, including agricultural activities, that constitute damage derived from the eruption of the volcano. .
Also the material damages derived from the disappearance or impossibility of continuing the activities of the different economic, business and professional operations, especially agricultural operations that constitute damage derived from the eruption of the volcano.
Likewise, any other damage not included that, duly proven, constitutes damage derived from the eruption of the volcano, will be the subject of the subsidy.
The aid granted in application of this royal decree may be complementary and will be compatible with other subsidies, compensation, aid, income or resources, coming from public or private, national or international systems. And, for the purposes of granting this financial aid, no limit will be applicable to the amount of annual income or income of the affected person or company that is a beneficiary.
The amount of the subsidy, 100 million euros, will be financed from the General State Budgets for the year 2023.
