The Southern Highway will remain closed to traffic tonight due to the construction of the new Las Chafiras link. The closure will be in effect from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. tomorrow.. Transit through this section of the TF-1 passing through San Miguel de Abona will be carried out via an alternative detour. These works are part of this phase of the San Isidro-Playa de third lane project. the Americas.
The new Las Chafiras interchange will have the type of roundabout elevated above the trunk of the TF-1, which it saves through two circular overpasses. This is a similar action to the one existing at the San Isidro link. The TF-65 (the road that runs between the urban area of San Miguel de Abona and Los Abrigos, in Granadilla de Abona), as well as the two branches towards Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the two collector-distributor roads in the southern direction. Traffic towards the capital will be carried out through the existing branches, which will undergo a small modification to undertake the new roundabout. On the other hand, movements towards Playa de Las Américas will be channeled through the two new distribution collector roads, as contemplated in the project.
The overall budget for the work is 23.6 million euros, of which 85% has already been executed.
