The alert for strong winds affecting part of Tenerife has caused multiple outdoor activities planned for this Sunday to be suspended for safety reasons.
In the case of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in addition to the suspension of said activities, preventive fencing has been carried out in some wooded places in the city. One of these closures occurred in giant nativity scene in the Plaza de la Candelariawhere citizens passing through the area have also been able to see a curious image.
The authorities have chosen to knock down the figure of Saint Joseph, as a security measure due to the forecast of strong winds. It is the largest image of the nativity scene, with 4.30 meters highwhile those of the Virgin Mary are 3.10 meters and the cradle of the Child Jesus measures 2 meters.
The polystyrene figures were made by the sculptor-imaginer Raúl Pérez, Garachico neighbor.
