He La Laguna City Council, through the Department of Municipal Services, has enabled a new playground in the square located between San Clemente and San Benito streets. This leisure and entertainment space includes adapted play elements and, in the near future, will be complemented with new benches for citizens to rest and enjoy.
The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, explained that this project addresses the need to create a new park, after the removal of children’s furniture from Avenida de Los Majuelos, “due to the lack of space and the danger of being there.” so close to a road with so much vehicle traffic.” The first mayor explained that these tasks have had a global budget of 30,697 euros.
For his part, the Councilor for Municipal Services, Ángel Chinea, explained that, “among the elements that have been installed in this space, there are a complex of towers, a walkway, slides, an inclusive nest swing, and a playhouse as well. adapted and two balancing springs.” In addition, a new shock-absorbing pavement with rubber tiles has been installed to guarantee the safety of minors in the event of any fall, and the existing calisthenics park has been enabled.
This new park joins others recently renovated and open to the public such as the one in Plaza San Martín de Porres, located in the Los Andenes area, which required an updating project due to the passage of time and the continued use of the facilities. .
Finally, Ángel Chinea recalled that La Laguna currently offers its population more than 150 children’s play areas distributed among the towns and neighborhoods of the municipality. The City Council is in a process of renewing and adapting these public infrastructures to safety and accessibility regulations.
