14 Tenerife South airport workers arrested for stealing suitcases

The multifunctional room of the The airport of Tenerife South It becomes a place of arrest for the fourteen workers who, watched by twenty agents, remain seated. The search begins and the first stolen jewelry appears between the seams of their uniforms. The search continues in the cars where they find watches and money. Even in one of the lockers, hidden in headphones, they discover a ring. It is part of the loot that employees stole from passengers’ luggage. They took advantage of the transfer of the suitcases to the hold of the plane to open them by puncturing the zipper with the tip of a pen and closing them again without showing that they had been manipulated. The numerous complaints from travelers made the investigation of the Civil Guard and discover the criminal organization. In addition, twenty other workers are being investigated for their alleged involvement in these thefts valued at two million euros.
