SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, December 13. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Parliament of the Canary Islands, with the votes of the PP, CC, AHI and Vox, has approved today, Wednesday, a Non-Law Proposal (PNL) of the Popular Group against the processing of the Amnesty Law and in which any type of amnesty is rejected or general pardon for any group of citizens, whatever their crime.
The proposal, defended by the popular deputy Luz Reverón and which had the abstention of ASG and the vote against the PSOE and NC-bc, indicates that the rule of law is the expression of the popular will, as established by the preamble of the Constitution, and commits all powers to its compliance. The PNL also encourages the two majority parties (PP and PSOE) to seek State agreements that prevent Spanish society from being subjected to the illegal conditions of pro-independence parties.
In her speech, Luz Reverón stated that the Amnesty Law that is already being processed in the Congress of Deputies “is unconstitutional and violates the basic principles of the Rule of Law,” and added that neither the legislator nor the Executive “can arrogate “the power to declare a group of people immune, erase their crimes and even prevent them from going to court like any other citizen.”
Reverón pointed out that the events that occurred in 2017 were “an insurrection by the public powers of Catalonia against the constitutional order; a criminal outrage perpetrated consciously by a determined group of politicians, ignoring the law”, hence the application of the article 155 and the implementation of legal instruments against its promoters, with the Supreme Court condemning some of its main leaders.
The popular deputy stressed that those involved in the process have found in the “ambition” of Pedro Sánchez “the breeding ground conducive to their aspirations for impunity, with the Socialist Party seeking with this Amnesty Law a criminal erasure of all the crimes committed.” by the organization of the process and also by the members of the secessionist movement, and also to erase those judicial cases that are in progress for misappropriation of public funds and for acts of terrorism.
He warned that this Amnesty Law “is not a full stop; it is a full stop towards the path of self-determination of Catalonia and, by extension, the Basque Country; a legal nonsense that the PSOE justifies in a supposed general interest when in “In reality, it only serves the particular interest of Pedro Sánchez to remain in Moncloa, which is called political corruption.”
Luz Reverón also made it clear that this PNL “is not about the right or the left, it is about coherence or following, it is about democrats or autocrats. The Amnesty Law is a fraud, it is corruption, it is unjustifiable, it goes against of survival, represents a democratic regression, is contrary to the separation of powers and, ultimately, is a humiliation to all Spaniards”.
“In the face of these threats and blackmail, what we do is stand up, put aside our differences and say loud and clear that with our democracy there is no negotiation, that our democracy, our freedom and the equality of all Spaniards are defended. This is what we are doing today. asking with this non-law proposal,” added the PP parliamentarian.
“THE BEGINNING OF THE END”.
Deputy Paula Jover of the Vox Parliamentary Group, shared that the Amnesty Law represents “the beginning of the end of democracy, the abolition of the rule of law, putting a caste of politicians above all citizens and above the law and also an obvious misuse of power”; a law that does not seek harmony, but rather “obtaining seven votes” and using Spain “as a bargaining chip.”
AHI deputy Raúl Acosta was against the amnesty “because it is not done out of political conviction, but out of the need for the seven votes of Junts, as well as those of ERC, to be able to form a government.” “If not, there is no explanation for stating that something is unconstitutional and then processing this law. Saying that they are not serious is an understatement because you laugh at the citizens,” said Acosta.
The spokesperson for the Canary Nationalist Group, José Miguel Barragán, was against the Amnesty Law because it is the result of “decisions that were not made ten years ago, but rather the duration of the electoral campaign.” “Democracy is not going to be defended like this. You cannot say for four years that Catalonia was pacified and now use as an argument for the amnesty that this serves to pacify Catalonia. When was it true? Was it pacified? Were things calm? Or is this necessary?” he asked himself. Barragán also maintained that this is “an ad hoc amnesty, of convenience, to have a president sitting in the Government of Spain.” “This is what has happened and that is undeniable,” he added.
FRUIT OF CONFRONTATION AND THE APOCALYPSE.
Jesús Ramos Chinea justified the abstention of the ASG Parliamentary Group by understanding that, regardless of whether the Amnesty Law is constitutional or not, at least its processing must be carried out as long as all the procedures are complied with and with all the guarantees. and that it will be later when the Constitutional Court decides whether or not it is contrary to the Fundamental Norm.
The spokesperson for the NC-bc Parliamentary Group, Luis Campos, did not support the PNL because of “the course of confrontation and apocalypse behind it and the actions of the Popular Party and Vox throughout the entire State.”
Likewise, he described as curious that those who present this non-legal proposal “were the authors of the tax amnesties; of the approach of ETA prisoners to the Basque Country; those who called ETA the Basque National Liberation Movement; and those who dared clearly to establish red lines for Vox and then to become its main partners not because they have changed their minds, but because, exactly like the Socialist Party, they probably needed their votes to access the Government and power.
Finally, the socialist deputy Sebastián Franquis wanted to make it clear that Spain “is not going to break” because of the Amnesty Law. “Here what has been broken is the aspiration of the extreme right and the Spanish right to govern this country. That is what has been broken,” Franquis remarked, adding that in our country “there is no problem of territorial struggle, but a problem of coexistence of communities, especially in Catalonia”, hence the Socialist Party is “working” to solve this problem and that this coexistence “continues in the future.”
