The project of the green hydrogen plant to be built in the south of the Island As of today, it is in the public information period, as well as the integrated environmental authorization and the environmental impact study. During the next 30 days, allegations and observations can be submitted.according to the resolution of the Vice-Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Energy of the regional Government published by the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC) in its edition yesterday.
The company Hidrogen Renovable Tenerife SL is the owner of the Green Hydrogen Generation Plant in Granadilla (formal name of the project). That is, that which comes from processes that rely on renewable energy to obtain hydrogen. This work will be carried out on the 1.25 square kilometer plot that Disa has in the Granadilla Industrial Estate.between the El Tagoro and Las Monjas ravines, to the West, and the Covón, to the East, the North and South limits being the highway (TF-1), the coast and the Port of Granadilla, respectively.
Production will be destined for fuel cells that are used in vehicles, especially
The published project reflects that “the destination of the hydrogen generated at the Granadilla hydrogen plant will be fuel cells essentially used in mobility”, that is, for automotive use. The operation of the plant will be based on the generation of hydrogen and its storage will be direct in tube trailers., there being no permanent accumulation in the plant. With this criterion, the installation will start only when the loading process of said tube trailers.
More than two years of work
The current planning, and included in the announcement made public yesterday, contemplates a duration of approximately 28 months for the final execution and start-up of the future green hydrogen plant in the Granadilla Industrial Estate.
The project provides for automatic operation of the plant, whose water supply for the process will be made directly from the Polygon’s supply network. For the rest of the complementary supplies (nitrogen, hydrogen and compressed air bottles), it will manage the stocks based on the plant’s operational needs. “With all this, the staff planned for the operation of the hydrogen plant is 4 people,” in its first two phases.
This procedure began on October 10, through the request made by Hidrgeno Renovable Tenerife SL, in order to be granted the integrated environmental authorization for the installation of the green hydrogen plant.
