The central plaza of La Concepción hosted yesterday, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., the first day of activity of the fifth edition of the Lagunera Adoption Fair. The event repeated the success of previous years in its first day, bringing together hundreds of people, thanks to the involvement of nearly twenty entities that work for animal welfare and responsible pet ownership, as highlighted by the City Council. .
The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, was present at the inauguration of this event “which not only helps promote adoptions and collaborations of citizens with these associations that work in the municipality, but also promotes awareness and citizen reflection about of the responsibilities that a person assumes when they welcome a dog or cat into their home.”
This fair serves as a platform to publicize the work of the protectors and organizations that are dedicated to animal care, with information tents, and allows the population to collaborate by providing food, financial donations, blankets, medicines or any other material that is needed. . There were also workshops and a parade under the motto In Adoption.
Likewise, in the afternoon, starting at 5:00 p.m., different talks were offered, for example, How does a shelter work?, by Valle Colino; Meet Petrichor, run by the founder of this animal sanctuary; Responsible Adoption, with Wow Dogtrainer Fenya; and Equine Wellbeing, from the hand of Equino Sentido.
The talks will continue today, starting at 12:30 p.m. The first will be given by Francisca Gutiérrez, a lawyer specialized in Animal Law, who will talk about the new Animal Welfare Law and its key points to take into account. She will take over the baton from the Tenerife Exotics medicine service and her presentation on Responsible ownership of exotic animals and will close this turn In Situ Canarias and her presentation Adopt, we are life partners.
The entities present were Brigada Animalista, Sueño Gatuno, Valle Colino, Equino Sentido, SOS Felina, SOS Peludos, Sano y Salvo, Canarionejos, Carlinos Canarias, Labradopta, Defensa Animal Tenerife, El Club de la Huella, Menudos Peludos, El Valle Encantado. , In Situ Canarias, Apanot, Valkiria, Lindo Gatito Adopción and Neko.
