The Cabildo of Tenerife will invest 515,762.25 euros in the improvement of the San Jerónimo industrial estate, located in the municipality of La Orotava. The Minister of Industry, Manuel Fernández, yesterday visited the streets that will be the subject of the work included in the 2024 budget, together with the mayor of the municipality Francisco Linares.
The works correspond to the second phase of the repaving of a series of streets in the industrial estate, which are in a state of significant deterioration, due to the heavy vehicle traffic on the roads, derived from the activity of the estate itself.
Manuel Fernández stated that “these jobs are a boost for the companies that carry out their economic activity in this environment, but also for the more than 2,000 workers who carry out their duties within the industrial estate, and who use these routes to get to their jobs. ”. Fernández highlighted that “this action is integrated into the plan to improve industrial estates that we promote from the Cabildo, confirming the commitment of the island government to the field of industry.” In this sense, he recalled that “for the first time in history, the Council has a specific Industry area, with its own economic resources, aimed at activating the industrial sector.”
The mayor of La Orotava, Francisco Linares, indicated that “collaboration between administrations is important and we are in complete harmony with the Cabildo to undertake improvements in the San Jerónimo industrial estate. We continue working to improve our municipality and we appreciate the involvement and collaboration of the Cabildo.”

Short Film Festival

The Teobaldo Power Auditorium in La Orotava hosted the closing and awards ceremony of the Probosco short film festival, which this year celebrated its 11th edition and was inspired by the theme of stories and fables. The event was attended by more than four hundred people from participating entities in different parts of the Canary Islands. The enclave classrooms of the IES Santa Cruz, with their short film titled The Fox and the Stork, won the prize awarded by the jury constituted for this contest, while the Los Olivos disability care center, with the mini film The Assembly Panic won the Probosco category award. The short Magic Exist, presented by the CADF Arucas, won the popular vote. This edition had the participation of 13 entities.
