Yesterday, rain and wind became the protagonists of the second day of Plenilunio Santa Cruz, covering the streets of the city center with umbrellas rather than with the public to attend most of the activities planned in around twenty locations in the capital. .
The presence of cruise ships in the Port helped energize the first half of the day with more tourists than local visitors, in a day that started at 11:00 a.m. in the García Sanabria park and lasted until midnight. Nighttime activity that made Plenilunio rise again thanks to the concerts offered in the Plaza de la Candelaria by Pitingo, David Ascanio with his band Picoco’s Band, as well as Abubukaka, Cristina Ramos or La Pantera.
The mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, explained that “we still have more than 200 hours of leisure, cultural, and sports activities ahead of us, with many activities for the whole family that will be held until Sunday.” He added that “it is a very broad proposal with many things to see, many things to do, from the Almeyda Military Museum to the Nuestra Señora de África Market, from the Plaza de la Candelaria to this extraordinary park.”
For her part, the CEO of the Development Society, Carmen Pérez, explained that “on Friday we had a good aperitif with many activities at the Casa del Carnaval, TEA, Teatro Guimerá, Museum of Fine Arts, in addition to the Energía Bloko parade. and the concerts by Julia Debis, ST Pedro, Dj Cannibal and Mel Ömana, and Marlon, which thousands of people could enjoy.”
“It will be an intense weekend with activities for the whole family that will be held in the Plaza del Príncipe, the esplanade of Avenida Marítima with sports activities in Chicharrock, Plaza de La Candelaria, Alameda del Duque de Santa Elena, Capitanía , the Casa del Carnaval, the MUNA, TEA or the San Roque and San Rafael cemetery, which hosts theatrical visits as a novelty, and which are complemented by concerts, workshops, markets and parades” he explained.
Meanwhile, the president of the Federation of Urban Areas of the Canary Islands (Fauca), Abbas Moujir, pointed out that “Plenilunio is an incentive because it helps to boost commercial activity, especially during Christmas.” However, he highlighted that although the start last Friday went well in terms of the public, yesterday it was not so good due to the bad weather, “which has reduced visitors,” he commented.
Despite this, he trusted that “the activities that remain to be held will recover the influx of visitors from previous editions.” Despite this, Moujir said that “the feeling is positive because actions like Plenilunio always help to strengthen and reactivate the sector, not only commercial, but also leisure and restoration in the capital.”
An opinion also shared by brands participating in the Le Good Market market, which yesterday brought together hundreds of people who came to this enclave, located in the García Sanabria park, to enjoy a different morning and evening.
The park’s walks hosted a wide range of crafts, fashion, gastronomy and kilometer zero products. All seasoned with a photocall of Santa Claus and a route decorated with balloons, candy canes and lights that added a touch of color to a day in which the gray sky predominated.
