The story of Angela Ciampagna, the perfumer who aromatizes Canarian hotels with plants and essences

“After completing my university studies in Italy,” he recalls Angela Ciampagna, a native of Atri, a small town located among the hills of central Italy, “I worked for years as a strategic planner for large advertising agencies in Milan.” She is now a co-founder of Label, a brand based in Tenerife that supplies fragrances to large international brands.

Sense

The Ciampagna’s olfactory memory He is nourished by the happy memories that mark his childhood days. He smell of the italian countrysidean old stately building or an austere country abbey in the places where he lived always aroused his curiosity.

Childhood

“I learned the trade of a perfumer by working directly in the field, researching plants, herbs and essences; adding step by step a new brick to my knowledge of raw materials to be able to scale later in the technique. Since I was little I paid attention to smells, perfumes and their secret language But it was not until I finished university studies that I continued training with specific courses in Italy and abroad,” recalls Ciampagna who, little by little, managed to define his palette of scents that characterizes each perfumer.

Company

Despite being convinced that her professional future would be linked to perfumery, that aspiration did not materialize. until 2010, when Label was born in Italy, the company he shares with his life partner, the physicist Enrico Maraffino.and in which it has taken up the old creation techniques of the typical European perfume houses of the early 20th century, adding, of course, modern techniques in the operating procedures.

Technique

“The art of perfumery is technical but it also involves creativity, sensitivity and research. Perfume is something invisible but with great power,” she says.

Tenerife

Land in 2019 in Tenerife looking for a creative refuge. He quickly fell in love with the Canary Island where today she practices her profession as a perfumer, exporting to the world her special sensitivity towards the fragrances that inspire her.

Firms

Ciampagna supplies its essences and perfumes to major Italian lifestyle brands. It also provides exclusive fragrances to many hotels and commercial establishments. Although, true to its principles, it continues to focus on numbered pieces of high craftsmanship, limited editions that are characterized by the use of rare raw materials.

Ambassador

Ciampagna has been appointed official ambassador of the National Bergamot Museum of Reggio Calabria in 2023a recognition that makes her happy “because behind this Academy there are passionate professionals who promote the culture and techniques linked to one of the main citrus ingredients in a perfumer’s palette,” she says.
