The Mirador Lomo Molino restaurant, in El Tanque, will see the return of this enthusiastic couple who, after 12 years of joint project, not only vital but professional, with El Mortero restaurant and events, will now bring signature cuisine to the municipality of El Tanque . It will be next December 13, with a very interesting proposal as it could not be less, “it is a dream come true because we are returning to where it all began” comments Alejandro Luis, the chef of El Mortero who, together with his inseparable Yolanda Rodríguez, “is the soul of the kitchen and the catering for all events”, have managed to provide their own and characteristic seal to the El Mortero restaurantlocated in Icod de Los Vinos.
The culinary proposal for Lomo Molino is a menu called Breathe It, “because from the restaurant we breathe San José de los Llanos, La Caleta de Interián, Garachico, El Tanque… and we have created a menu that encompasses what those places inspire us” . Furthermore, the idea is to develop a gastronomic event in which there will be training and where perhaps other couples like them will form who will impregnate with their love and respect all the raw materials that pass through their hands… just as Alejandro and Yolanda do with their dishes. Another of the future projects they have in mind is to carry out gastronomic activities that exploit local products and give them the value they deserve within the menus of both El Mortero and Lomo Molino.
With this new journey, and the arrival of Christmas, Alejandro and Yolanda are going to be very busy. Their philosophy, which they will now transfer to Lomo Molino, is to bring gastronomy closer to everyone. “El Mortero is designed for those humble families, like the one I grew up in, that cannot afford to go to a modern designer restaurant, with large dishes and small quantities. The restaurant is designed to meet the needs of people with real economic situations, using guachinche prices for dishes framed within the signature and designer cuisine,” says Alejandro, and this is attested to by its menu in which you can find everything from starters such as the crunchy black pudding caramels with piquillo pepper jam and onion for €9.25; cod and porcini croquettes with saffron aioli for €9.90; or the onion and chickpea boiler with baked eggs and Iberian shavings for €9.75; even the first ones with a variety of options such as bags filled with cheese and pear with mild Roquefort sauce for €11.25; confit cod on vegetable ratatouille and wrinkled potatoes with Canarian mojos for €17.50 or pork tenderloin in almogrote sauce or brandy mushrooms for €15.50, among others, without forgetting the exquisite desserts.
Wedding Planner, events and catering
But El Mortero also offers a Wedding Planner service that will allow any couple to completely stop worrying about the cumbersome preparations for a wedding. The team will propose spaces and suppliers: catering, floral decoration, photo video, lighting, DJ, music in straight, decoration, stationery, etc. “Our team works with dedication and enthusiasm, we are passionate about our work and it shows in the results. We like to innovate, we are very creative and demanding,” they say. They usually work with the San Felipe, Valois and Finca Quiñones farms. In charge of the catering, and the stoves in the two kitchens, is Yolanda who ensures that they are “up to date with the latest trends. “We always seek excellence in our work.”
