Likewise, it is likely that strong storms will be recorded around the most important islands, without ruling them out in the easternmost islands, the Government reports in a note.
Faced with this situation, the Government of the Canary Islands recommends that the population take extreme precautions and insists on following self-protection advice to avoid risks.
In this sense, before the beginning of the rainy episode it is important to check the state of drains and roofs to avoid damage to the home and once it begins, it is essential to exercise extreme caution while driving, moderate speed and increase the safety distance.
In addition, you should travel on main roads or highways, avoiding access to forest tracks or secondary roads.
Regarding the precautions to take into account in the event of storms accompanied by lightning or lightning, the Government points out that it is important to close doors and windows in the home, since air currents can attract lightning.
Furthermore, in the case of outdoors, it is recommended to stay away from towers, fences and other metal structures, also avoiding taking shelter under trees.
In any case, in case of emergency, ask citizens not to overestimate their own possibilities, call 1-1-2 and wait for the arrival of specialized help.
