Restrictions on roads affected by the Tenerife fire end

The Cabildo of Tenerife has reported this Wednesday that this week, on Friday, December 1, the restrictions affecting the island’s roads that were damaged by the forest fire that devastated the island’s mountains will end. for more than two months this summer.

These are the TF-21 and TF-24 roads, which go up to Teide through La Orotava and La Esperanza, respectively. The restrictions in force prevent the circulation of two-wheeled vehicles (motorcycles and bicycles) and vehicles over 12 meters in length, as well as heavy goods vehicles. Additionally, the speed limit is 50 kilometers/hour.

The president commented that a “normalization” process is already taking place after the extinction of the forest fire and the “safety” of the roads has been confirmed so that traffic can be traveled completely normally.

Mobility plan

On the other hand, the Governing Council of the Cabildo of Tenerife approved this Wednesday the progress of the mobility plan and will present it on December 13 with the 31 municipalities of the island through the Canarian Federation of Municipalities (Fecam).

This was stated by the president, Rosa Dávila, who has detailed that once it is published in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP), a period of 45 days opens to present the pertinent allegations.

Dávila has pointed out that the progress analyzes the road and railway infrastructure of the island and in that sense he has highlighted that it is “very important” that the powers that the municipalities have have their “necessary coordination” with the island’s mobility policies.

In the specific case of the closure of the Guamasa link with the TF-5, he has indicated that there is “nothing new” and reports from the General Directorate of Traffic and the Public Services and Highways areas continue to be collected to make a final decision.
